Epson stylus C70: all lights flashing

Since changing an ink cartridge recently, all 3 lights are flashing and my printer window informs me that "an intervention is needed". I cleaned the ink overflow well but nothing doing. Every time I switch it on again, all lights flash and no printing possible. Can you help? Thanks!

Yes the cartridge moves freely along the carriage! It swipes across once or twice every time I switch it on, just before the lights start flashing...

Please confirm that the head cleanings were done using the most effective method listed below.

1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing.

NOTE: You cannot clean the print head if the any of the cartridges are expended. Replace the appropriate ink cartridge before proceeding.

2. Load letter size paper.

3. Click on START.

For Windows 95/98/ME: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then right click on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PROPERTIES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows 2000: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then right click on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows XP: Click CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES. Right click your EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. If this icon is not showing, select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS. Then right click the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows Vista: Click CONTROL PANEL, HARDWARE AND SOUND then PRINTERS. Note: these steps may vary depending on how Vista is setup. Right click on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

4. Click on the UTILITY or MAINTENANCE tab, then click on HEAD CLEANING.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the print head. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which time the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing, unless the printer has not moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

6. When the power light stops flashing click PRINT NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN and then click NEXT.

7. If the nozzle check pattern has no gaps in its lines, click FINISH. If the pattern has any gaps, click CLEAN to clean the printhead again.

8. If the situation continues after three cleaning cycles and nozzle checks, replace one of the affected ink cartridge(s).

9. Once the cartridge(s) has been replaced, please follow steps one through seven up to three times.

If the nozzle check still has gaps after you have run at least 3 consecutive cleaning cycles and replaced the affected ink cartridge(s), your printer will require service.

***

Use the Printer Driver Utility to clean the print head. Alternatively, try this SSC Service Utility.
Also try changing the affected ink cartridge.
All else fails, your printer will require service.

0.gif Re: Epson C70 Problem by Jim (12/21/03 4:10 PM) reply + / - I have just installed colour cartridges and a black cartridge into my C70.
Myproblem is that the black cartridge is not being recognised and I aminformed by the printer that there is insufficient ink in the cartridgeand a need a new replacement. The black cartridge that I have used is agenuine epson cartridge.
I have been informed by epson help linethat either I need to install a new new cartridge or that my printerneeds to go to Epson for a maintenance check.
I cannot afford another new ink cartridge nor can I afford the return charges and maintenance bill from epson.

Can you help?

0.gif Re: Epson C70 Problem by Wes t.gif (12/21/03 4:47 PM) reply + / - Theonly two option I can think of is to return the ink cartridge asdefective or you can trick the printer into accepting the cartridge.

Youwill need to download the SSC Service Utility and click on the "ResetCounters" tab and then click the "Reset Black" tab to reset the blackink cartridge. The only problem is you will need to reset or freeze theink cartridge.

You can get the SSC Service Utility here http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html

I hope this gets your printer going again.

Epson stylus cx5400 reset???

try doing this :

Reclamping the Ink Cartridges

Once you start the ink cartridge reclamp procedure, you must complete all the steps in one session.

1. Make sure the EPSON Stylus CX5400 is turned on and not printing.

2. Press a MENU button until you see CHANGE CARTRIDGE, then press the COLOR COPY BUTTON. The ink cartridges will move to the replacement position.

3. Lift up the unit's cover, to access the ink cartridges.

4. Pinch the tabs on the front and back of the cartridge, and lift it out of the printer.

5. Lower the cartridge back into its holder, then press down on the top of the cartridge until it clicks in place.
Caution: Don't touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge, as you may inhibit normal operation and printing.

6. Carefully lower the scanner and press it down until it clicks into place. The EPSON Stylus CX5400 begins charging the ink delivery system.
The On light flashes and the EPSON Stylus CX5400 makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the On light stops flashing and stays on steady.
Caution: Never turn off the EPSON Stylus CX5400 while the On light is flashing, unless the Stylus CX5400 hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

if the issue still persists - you need to call the vendor - it´s a hardware issue
