SOURCE: Uniden Bearcat BC 350A scanner won't pick up 800 channels

You BC350A provides coverage of popular bands between 29 and 512MHz, so it is not capable of receiving signals in the 800MHz range. Sorry, but you'll need a different scanner to follow the action.

SOURCE: how do i program my scanner

Depending on where you are your local police may be using encryption technology that will only let you hear beeps and tones without a proper decoder device.

How to enter codes on uniden bc60xlt handheld?

Hi, first, you can only listen to analog radios on this scanner, so if you local or state public servants went to digital, you are out of luck. You can still receive National Weather Service, most railroads, ham radio operators and any small town police and fire that have remained on analog VHF and UHF. Do a Google search and you can get the instruction book for the radio. As far as channels, search for Radio Reference dot com and search for your state and county. That will list the channels to enter into your radio. Good luck and have fun.

What is the best scanner to receive local police reports

The all depends on what the police are using in your area. If the police are on a simplex frequency or a local repeater, just about any scanner will do. If you are in an area with P25 digital trunking, you are going to need a more expensive scanner such as the Uniden BC396XT or the brand new Uniden BCD436HP.

Free police codes

While looking up local listing will take a little leg work, These links below will give you some great starting points.
Just remember, agencies will change frequencies, Hardware, and radio types from analog, to digital, to trunked.
Also web sites may not have most up to date listings, Id also suggest local amateur radio aka Ham radio clubs. some of the guys there may be able to help you out as well.
Best of luck and SCAN ON! :) Enjoy

Can this scanner convert over to be ditital.in order to pick up live police ..

Sorry, but the BCT8 is an analog only scanner, and there is no way to convert it to digital. Your only option is to upgrade to a scanner that is factory equipped to handle digital signals.

Getting a bearcat 370 scanner for christmas. we have digital and analog frequencies in our county police, will this take both?

The BC370CRS is a straight analog scanner. It will not do digital, and it will not do trunking. I use mine for fire, EMS, and aircraft. Unlike most of today's scanners, it has good coverage of both civil AND military aircraft bands. If you want a preview, you can download and print the scanner's manual, at no cost, here:

What channels for scanner

You will have to find out if your local safety systems are analog, digital, analog trunking or digital trunking, then buy the appropriate scanner. Radio Shack can at least let you know that much before you buy a unit. If they have digital trunking, only 1 or 2 models will work, and reception is quite limited.
You can also go to www. RadioReference dot Com and select Florida and your county and find out the info there. okay?
