The acer veriton m460 has three faulty capacitors. Check and see if you have bulgy capacitors. I have ten of these computers and all have three blown capacitors.

  • mclux May 18, 2011

Hi..

Mostly of this problem is the processor, it will cause an over heating you need to disassemble all the parts(memory, hard drive, processor) your power supply is good but your processor have not display. Make sure that your processor hit sink is running so that your processor will not over heat.

Reassemble that parts.

Good luck!

I had a problem with a M460 booting up and overspeeding with the CPU fan. I could not get windows started. Wound up being a problem with the heat sink compound between the heat sink and CPU. Compound had hardened and would not conduct the heat away. Put in new compound and no problem

I also had the problem with Acer Veriton M410 where it would start to boot up from the hard drive and then it would sound like it would abruptly stop. The monitor would go from black (no power) to white (when the hard drive started spinning)

I pulled the RAM, replaced the power supply and checked the hard drive by putting another one in its place that I knew was working properly.

It was the monitor, it had apparently went out and was only displaying a white screen once the machine booted up.

Might check to make sure your monitor is working properly before doing everything else.....I put a spare monitor on the machine and it booted up just fine.

Acer Veriton 6900 Desktop says no signal and the screen turns off. The towers power light stays on but the fan isn't running.

Hello,

Change the power supply and restart your pc. This will happen when the power supply has gone bad. It sends power to low voltage items but not the needed voltage to power the system on.

Good Luck

Acer veriton M460 does not boot to desktop. It boots to windows xp and suddenly brings a flash of yellow light then it stops displaying anything on the screen but d syystem remains on without displaying...

There are a couple of quick fixes you can do.

First, boot into Safe Mode (Repeatedly tap the F8 key while the system is booting, before the windows logo appears) A Menu will pop up, press Boot Into Safe Mode. From there you can try a System Restore to a known good date.

System Restore - Click Start -> Control Panel -> On the top right, type "System Restore" without the quotes. Click on "Restore system files and settings from a restore point". You can choose the recommended restore or a specific date.

The other option is to boot into "Last Known Good Configuration". To do this, use the F8 trick again while booting, but instead of Safe Mode choose "Last Known Good Configuration".

Please note that either of these run a risk of some data being lost from the time the restore point was made. You "shouldn't" lose anything but just want to make you aware.

If this helps, please give a positive rating.

Acer veriton m460 won't turn on fan runs that's it

Power supply failure. Replace it. Get 50+ more watts than the original. Power supplies are inexpensive and can be replaced without affecting your operating system or programs.
BTW: Many "failed" power supplies still can deliver enough power to spin fans and turn on the lights.
I recommend: www.newegg.com

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Blown capacitor in a Veriton 3600G...psu runs but system will no

It is not unusal for capacitor/s to blow their tops and could emit flames and smoke as the power supply ages. When they blow they could damage other components. Don't bother trying to replace them, get a new power supply.
