Hello, Thamsanqa -
If the supposed email from PayPal does not have your first name (PayPal user name) in the greeting, you can count on it being a phishing email. Also, if the sender's email address has more than just "paypal.com" after the @ symbol, it is definitely a scamming, phishing email.
As Fixya.com answerer Brian Smales has cautioned you, do not click on any links or attachments in that fake PayPal email.
You can forward the phishing email to PayPal so that their technicians can verify that the message is a scam. How to go about doing that:
- You will need to open the scam email and choose the Forward option
- Before forwarding the email, you will need to find and paste the full message header for the email into the very beginning of the scam email. See the directions on how to find the full message header and subsequent steps here:
https://support.google.com/mail/answer/29436?hl=en
- Once you have the scam email open and set to Forward, with the full message header pasted right below the Forwarded Message line and above the scam email, enter the following in the Subject line for the Forwarded message:
Suspicious Email
- Then, in the body of your Forwarded email, just above the Forwarded Message line, type the following:
Hello -
I received the following suspicious email message, with full message headers. I suspect it is a phishing email and not from Paypal. Please investigate.
Sign your name as it is for your PayPal account.
- This is the email address you should send the Forwarded email to:
[email protected]
With email and the Internet, keep yourself safe by always thinking this:
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Best wishes
$3275.63 deposited to your PayPal ? (please RESPOND... important)..he snd at my emil this rely or fake??
I think it sounds like a scam. If you are not expecting that money then send the email to your spam folder. DO NOT click on any links in the email.
SOURCE: adjusting for PayPal fees when recording payment received
Actually, you do not want to reduce the product name. When you make the deposit from PayPal, you want it to be for the full amount the customer paid. Then add a second line with a minus amount for the fees, and the account of paypal fees (expense). This way, you split off the fees paid to paypal as an expense, and the bank reconcile matches.
Attempting to reduce the ProductName will only result in tax liability issues, as you have to charge sales tax on the full amount the customer was originally charged.
Using a negative line on the deposit to split the paypal fees off is a much cleaner process, and causes no confussion for the accountants.

Ah yeah, if it's ebay related, Paypal now holds the sellers money from the buyer til the buyer either gives good feedback or something like almost 30 days passes with out problem. If the good feedback comes fast, you get your money. OR prove you shipped the item; usually with a tracking number that you'll put into ebay or paypal to prove it. They had that policy for a while now. I hate it personally.

You can transfer your paypal deposit to bank account. I don't think you can transfer directly to your credit card.
