Cannot exit the TV's menu screen

The tv menu was displayed when I turned the set on and I have been unable to exit from it. I press the exit option, the picture appears momentarily then defaults right back to the menu screen. Powering off and changing cables do not help.

Mine started doing the same thing yesterday. The colder it is the longer it takes for the menu to pop up, but then you can't get rid of it! Turning it off for awhile gets you 30 seconds of normal operation.

So I just called Philips about this problem. Our TV was doing the same thing, she said it was a problem with the software in the tv and you need to update it.

Go to www.p4c.philips.com
enter your product number for the tv
go to product support
then software and drivers and then click on the link and follow the directions.

Your going to have to download it onto an usb and plug it into the tv.
And if that doesnt make any sense I apologize I dont really know what Im talking about Im just repeating what she said.

Lets all hope it works!!!

SOURCE: Unable to exit TV's menu

Try to replace the remote sensor board inside the bottom of your tv. If that won't work, you need to replace the Small Signal Board (SSD Assy) of your tv.

How to shrint screen

Hello, AE -

Are you asking how to make the picture on your TV smaller ("shrink it")?If so, without knowing the make and model of your particular TV, I can only give you general instructions.

You will need the remote control which came with your TV (not a remote control for cable or satellite dish TV service.)

Turn the TV ON.With the remote control, press the MENU button. One of the MENU choices which displays on the TV screen should be SETTINGS or SCREEN RESOLUTION. Choose that.

You will be provided a list of screen image sizes. Move through each option to determine which size you prefer.Once you have landed on the screen aspect ratio (another term for picture size) you prefer, press the OK button on the remote control. Choose to keep the chosen setting and EXIT or ESCAPE the MENU options.

Best wishes.

SAMSUNG LE32R73BDX/XEU TV Digital TV Stuck on bbc1, no access to DTV menu to reset or retune. Sometimes picture is frozen, always it shows BBC banner and Mono. Standby - Info - menu - Mute - Power is not...

just spoke to Samsung support and it turns out that the freeview tuner had froze and needed resetting. To do this put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu. Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new. Set the time and country options and then it will perform a complete scan. I've just retuned mine and all back to normal. Hoorah!!!! :-)
