Trying to hook up a Samson m10 mic, connecting to plug used to play music but nothing

Your first issue is vista... it just sucks. I would have to be there to figure this one out but im going to state the obvious, does it have an installation cd you didnt use? does it have online drivers you can find? Try looking around in your control panel and messing around with some of the options, good luck.

SOURCE: Samson C01U USB mic not working on my PC.

try this;

1.using different usb inputs on your pc desk top
2.update drivers on both your desk top and laptop
3.using a different usb cable

if it works fine on your friends computer most likely its not the mic

SOURCE: no recording?

In garageband when you have the gtrack set up , it will show you 2 options for input source 'USB Audio CODEC'. This is because you have 2 lines in, the mic and the jack. Make sure you have picked the correct one to record the vocals...otherwise it is expecting the jack input and will record nothing.

You do understand the microphone requires phantom power ... You're connecting a microphone to a ten watt guitar amp ... what's that about.

Add to the question of hooking up 4 mic channels to a single compressor: I have a samson 16 channel mixer ( 8 mic inputs ) and a 4 channel compressor. I want to be able to use the compressor to compress 4...

Is there some reason you can't use one of you're aux sends for the compressor? You can then dial up as much compression as you want on each individual instrument. If you're determined to get the 4 mics into one compressor input.... Only thing I can think of is use TRS insert cables on the 4 mic channels - tie them all into one compressor input through a small patch bay or similar. Then bring your return from your comp to a 5th channel. Impedance matching is completely out the window so no promises on results.

This is because the G Track's Mic signal is on the Left channel and the Instrument signal is on the Right channel. You are making a stereo recording when you should be making 2 mono recordings. Does Nicecast have an option to set the track to mono Left channel? Traktor should, but I haven't used it so I can't tell you where the option is. There's probably a Track Input drop-down or something like that.

HOw do you plug the Samson M15 into a stereo? Or

You need a small mixer to boos the level of the mic to line level.

Doesn't pick-up sound

First I'd check the cable and make sure it's alright. Try another cable you know is good. If it still has low output unfortunately, it's probably the capsule.If the mic is new I'd send it in for warranty repair if not contact samson @ their website for repair info.

I cant hook up mic and guitar same time

get a 1/8" stereo to mono splitter from radio shack or the like. it should have 1 1/8"male end, and two female ends, you could possibly get a 1/8" male with 2 1/4" female connectors, or use an all 1/4 inch adapter, with a 14/ to 1/8 adapter on the male end.

this should divide the guitar and vocals into left and right channels.

No recording?

The static after several seconds seems like this is a problem with certain versions of OS X. You might be able to fix it by downgrading or upgrading. Apple Forums say that it's fixed in 10.5.6.

You can double check that this is the problem by trying it on a Windows computer.
