The screen is black but can see audiovox logo

Take a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol and gently clean the laser lens, allow several minutes to dry before use, if this fails! replace the player because laser assembly not cost effective.

Enter the Menu screen, select, preference, select default, and OK.
If the problem is with password forgot, the default passord of this unit is [ 3308]. Enter this password on the first screen. Sometimes the unit won't accept this passord for the first time to cheat you, enter this pasword again. After that, you can enter your own passord. OK.

TAKE THE CORD WITH YOU TO THE STORE AND SHOW IT TO THE STORE KEEPER. HE WILL DO THE REST OR GUIDE YOU TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

The dvd has a defective Laser Pickup Assembly or the Laser Pickup lens is dirty, Take a Q-Tip dip it in rubbing alcohol and clean it carefully and allow several minutes to dry, if it works you are home free. If there is no change it is not cost effective for repairs.

this could of been the battery over heating

I am having the same problem? What is the solution?

Check the black spindle that holds the disk it may be cracked or broken or the little spring tabs are broken. If this is the problem when the disk spins it lifts up and the head doesn't read the disk, this is what has happened to mine. I am trying to locate the part but so far have not had luck finding it.
