I can't give you a definitive solution without knowing the model of your calculator, but my first inclination is to suggest you replace the ribbon or whatever the calculator uses for an ink source.

Try Goof Off, it is a cleaner, sometimes you can find it in the paint section of your hardware store.

You DO NOT have to buy from them, but it is the first I found with the number.

I couldn't find a manual for your calculator model .
It is a basic model though.
I suggest you check VICTOR TECHONOLOGY calculators page:

Look for a calculator model that looks like yours, click on "Details" and you'll reach another page from where you can download its manual.
They are selling a refurbished 1220-3 calculator, but they don't give any link to the manual.
You might also find that other manufacturers calculators look and function like yours.

This is most likely a ribbon impact system. Any office supply store should have the ribbon you need, with information on compaitability on the package.

Remove the paper roll and gently but firmly pry on the bezel surrounding the paper exit path. Examine the sides of the ribbon casing for any clips or fasteners.
