SOURCE: Shredder suddenly runs only in reverse

Do you hear the motor moving in both directions? I just had the same problem with mine. On mine, you can hear the motor moving in both directions but it would only move the shredder teeth in reverse and the teeth would not move going forward. I took the unit apart and found out that the gear right next to the motor shaft was rounded out in the middle. The solution would be to get a new gear or gears if you can get them. Make sure you inspect all the gears to see if there is a lot of play. You might have to replace more than 1 gear. What I did on mine, was take a brass tubing that was just a little larger than the shaft, drill out the center of the bad gear and press the tubing into the center of the bad gear. This took up the extra play and my Tech Solution TS8000 is working again. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at [email protected]

SOURCE: Shredder Malfunction

Sounds like you have a jammed shredder. Unplug it, and then look under the shredding output side. You might see a bunch of compacted paper in there. If so, you'll need to have someone take it apart and remove the paper. Be sure the shredder is UNPLUGGED before you or anyone else attempts to do this.

My shredder worked fine but now when I turn on it does not stop running and does not shred paper ?

Most shredders will have a shred and a reverse setting. Is it running in reverse? Has the bin been emptied? With the power off, you can remove the bin and manually pull excess shredded paper jammed in the cutting heads -watch out, sharp metal . Once cleared run single sheets for the first minute to help clear rollers.

My royal shredder js1100 will only shred in reverse.

Simple to solve!
Get some longnose pliers or strong tweezers.
Unplug the beast. You do not want to shred your finger nails, or your fingers.
Flip the mechanical part upside down. You will find small pieces of papers near the rollers. Pull them out with tweezers or pliers.
Keep hands out of harm\'s way, plug shredder and make it run in reverse for 1/10 of a second.
Unplug and remove more paper impacted in between rollers.
Repeat last two steps until no paper is seen by the rollers.
Plug and continue shredding your papers

Piece of advice. Do not shred your credit cards in shredder. Scissors are cheaper and do not mess your shredder!

The shredder doesn't automatically shred anymore. How do I set it so the "eye" works and it shreds automatically without me holding down the button?

Check the Power Ensure that the shredder top is firmly placed in the shredder basket if the unit will not operate. If the top is not in place the feeder will not work and accept any paper. Make sure it is firmly plugged into the wall outlet and that the outlet is active. Rest the Shredder Let the shredder cool down if the shredder has been running continuously for a long time. It may have overheated and needs to be left in the off position for at least 30 minutes to reset. Verify the basket is empty or not too full as that will cause the shredder to deactivate. Clear Paper Jam Rotate the shredder into "Auto" and reverse to loosen any paper jam that is stopping the gears. Pull out any papers that are sticking out from the shredder feeder. If there is no progress then unplug the shredder and remove the shredder top from the bin. Turn it upside down and use tweezers to free any paper that is blocking the gear. Auto Mode Not Working Select the "Auto" option and feed paper into the center of the feeder tray if the shredder is only working in reverse mode. The sensor is located in the middle of the feeder tray and could be blocked by jammed paper. Use an index card to firmly unblock any paper that could be blocking the sensor.

Only runs in reverse

I just had this problem with my shredder. I think the problem started with a bin that was full. Running the shredder in reverse resulted in shredded paper being pulled up into the slot used to feed paper into the shredder. Some of this shredded paper was blocking the little plastic tab that activates the switch when paper is inserted, so the shredder would no longer start when paper was inserted. I emptied the bin and removed the shredded paper from the feed slot, being careful not to break the plastic "sensor" while removing the paper from under it. The shredder works fine now.

I have a Royal CX 66 Crosscut shredder and attempted to shred 10 pages. The unit shredded 1/2 of the papers and the other 1/2 are stuck in the shredder; the reverse mode will not release the papers. Is...

The Royal cx-6 shredder is a small consumer shredder rated for "up to 6 sheets at a time" so yes it will jam with anything more that 6.
If running it in reverse won't work you will have to try to open it up and see if you can manually turn things to get the paper back out...there is no other way if it wont run in reverse...hopefully when you have the paper removed the machine will still function.
