Just bought HDMI to DVI cable to connect my VL193 to my HP laptop - unable to get the monitor to "pick up" the signal - just a blank screen - if I power it on & off, just goes right to power...

Hi

Desktop PCs automatically seek an external monitor to output graphics to. Laptops default settings send the image to the internal monitor. You need to manually instruct the laptop to export the image to an external monitor.

With the cable connected and the monitor powered up, try pressing the Fn key (bottom left of keyboard) on the laptop and simultaneously pressing the function key at the top ofthe keyboard with an image of 2 monitors (often F5 or F6) to sent d the image to the external screen.

try going to "display properties" and adjusting the settings there. Right click on the desktop wallpaper and go to properties, then click on the settings tab. Make sure the TV setting is turned on

I'm experiencing the same problem. I'll try chnaging the BYD -Li-ion Battery first. Probably its life has extinguished!!!

You need to connect sound separately - DVI only supports video and not sound. You'll notice a 3.5mm audio in jack on the back of the Philips. You need to plug your sound output in there.

How do I change the input from the DVI-I input to the 15

I found the online manual and followed the instructions to set to "auto" input. Everything works fine.
It had been a discouraging ordeal trying to locate a new DVI cable (which came with the projector)
and as it turns out the 15 pin cable works fine. Thank you.

Got this monitor from a friend with no instructions

It's an ancient monitor. You may have a new computer with a different kind of connector. That monitor uses a VGA connector. Your computer probably has a DVI connector.

If both your tv and computer has VGA connectors you need a VGA cable. If both have DVI connectors you need a DVI-connector. If your TV only has HDMI I believe you can use a DVI to HDMI converter plug.

For the manual first check out the manufacturers pages. Many have the manuals for download to save on production costs by not printing the manual. You may also try to google it. Search like this:
