I need a wiring diagram for a 1981 Fender Squire P-bass with EMG Active pickups now in both the P spot and J spot.

I also have an "Audio Expander" that was installed when I bought the EMG's. Thank you. Reason is, I've developed a terrible buzz in both the Tone and Preamp knobs. Thank you. There is only one 9V battery.

SOURCE: Shadow Kill Pot Wiring Diagram with 2 active

Are you using the original solderless wiring? Are you starting from scratch? Are just wanting to install the Shadow pot into an already working guitar? If you are working on an already working guitar Please give the model number, if EMG equipped, So I know where and what we have to work with. But this should be a straight up fairly easy setup. The Shadow pot just replaces the normal volume pot. Off to work, but will be back with you.

Wiring change from Fender

Standard J-Bass wiring is parallel. Not series.

To run the pickups in series, the ground of one pickup would feed into the hot of the next. That's not what comes from the factory.

How do i wiring an active pickup and a passive pickup in same guitar

Not hard - just wire up one pickup and leave the other one alone. The active pickup will have wires that say "output + and - " - just use those to connect to the same place you would attach a passive pickup. Also, an active pickup will need space for a battery (9v). I weould consult EMG pickup installation for diagrams. You will also probably need to replace the guitar jack with a TRS, where the ring is a "killswitch" for the battery when the guitar is disconnected.

Try this diagram set: http://www.emgpickups.com/skin/frontend/emg-2013/default/pdfs/2-tw-2v-1t-only.pdf

Im getting an annoying hum from my squire deluxe active v bass how can I fix this?

There are various things that could be causing the hum, best to start out on the smallest thing and go from there, could be dust gettting inside the volume or tone pots, check the ground wire that is soldered under the bridge plate to make sure it has a good solder and is not loose, etc. if all else fails, a quick fix is to place black electrical tape across the pick-ups, this will knock out some of the hum and help ground the instrument somewhat.

What is wrong? my active bass whether i put a new battery in or not sounds passive no change whatsoever. quite a bit of the low end is severely missing. Schecter STARGAZER 5 bass.

That bass combines passive EMG pickups with an active preamp (which provides the bass and treble controls). Sounds like you are never getting the preamp to work, and if that is the case there could be numerous reasons...a dead battery...jack wiring that is broken (meaning the battery ground wire is not attached or is grounding out)...likely should see a tech, but that is a good sounding bass when working correctly.

HELLO!MY NAME IS KOSTYA SOME QUESTIONS ) BASS STU HAMM URGE 2 HAVE ONLY ACTIV?NOT ACTIV/PASIV? CAN I PLAY AS PASIV??IT S VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME!!))))

If your Bass has Active pickups then it will only work when there is a battery. It will not work without a battery. If you do not want the active pickups then you can have someone swap out your pickups for passive ones. In fact, you can probably get passive pickups for free in exchange for your fancy (expensive) active pickups. Good Luck
