IT COULD BE LOTS OF THINGS WRONG. RAD COULD BE STOP UP, BAD RAD. CAP..
A LEAK IN THE RAD. SYSTEM. LOOK FOR WATER LEAKS. RUN YOUR CAR UNTILL IT IS HOT THEN FEEL THE RADATOR ON THE INSIDE AT THE BOTTOM IF IT IS COLD THE RAD. IS STOP UP... CHECK THE FAN CLUTCH MAKE SURE IT IS WORKING .......
CHECK FOR WATER PUMP LEAK TOO.......

1992 ford econoline is over heating

hi this is can be found out by trail and error method only. 1st try replacing the water pump if the problem get solved then it ok.if the problem presits then it the problem is with the radiator.

there may be another problem also.the fam which is cooling the water may be not running properly(reduced spped)due to which the cooling is not proper. please check this also.

if my answer was usefull please vote.

We had to drain down the central heating system due to repairs,we fix repair and flushed out the system,we refilled and vented from the lowest to highest rads, vented pump ,top rad heated, next two rads...

Just fill it up until the water reaches to the highest rads.
With the system running, try venting out the vacuum on
the rads starting from the lowest to the highest until
the warm water will be felt from each rad. Just send your e-mail comments and God bless you.

I have a 1990 Ford f-150 XLT 4x4 with a 351W 5.8L engine. I replaced the water pump, thermostat, radiator, and cap. Now the antifreeze is being pumped into the overflow tank to where it is overflowing. The...

Run engine from cool, with rad cap off & heater on heat (not AC) and watch for circulation through rad when engine reaches normal operating temperature. Rev engine slightly from time to time for a couple of seconds, to increase flow & help bleed air out of system. Let it run for a while, and watch for increased flow in rad 2 or 3 times. Probably see air bubbles at same time.Hot coolant from engine comes in top, and back out bottom to engine after cooling in rad. The increased flow in rad ,indicates thermostat is opening & circulating cooler liquid back into engine. After 2 or 3 times put cap back on & fill return bottle only to line specified as warm/hot engine level.

Location of thermostat

Did you run the engine with rad cap off & heater (not defrost) on while topping up the coolant. If not, do it & let it run that way until your rad fan comes on & off about 3 times, then top rad up to a inch or 2 from top, and put cap back on, & check level in return bottle.
