1. The TV remains on with no picture, but the sound is fine? 2. How many blinks does the standby light give? Are they continuous? Is it the same each time, or random? 3. Did anything else happen before this, or did it just happen one day?
Answer that and I'll try to help with what I know.
This problem is indicative of a problem with one of three (of the same) ICs. Give me a bit more info and I'll give you some links to the solution, or help you myself.

Your local TV repair guy should be able to go in and recharge the picture tube. Just had mine done for about $165 and it looks good as new (and this was on a KV-32s22 that we picked up at a yard sale). Well worth it.
For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.
I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.
turn up your master screen control on flyback transformer.
if when sceen gos black ,the timer light will be blinking.
this means your picture tube is week.
by turning up the screen control you may give it more time.
