Kitchen aid fridge freezing in fre ezer and fridge section

My side by side fridge won't stop working and due to that, it will freeze the food in the fridge and the freezer as well. I already replaced the defrost board in that fridge and it didn't solve the problem. it can't be the damper because the ice cream is frozen in the freezer section and there are no control boards except this tiny defrost board. I can't think of any other components that won't stop the fridge from running. I really don't want to throw this 2500 dollar fridge because of that. will appreciate any kind of help or advice. Thanks, Jake MN: ksrg25fvms01 part number: 4388132

Hi Jake, Thank you for listing a good model# and what you have tried along with what is the issue! It helps us help you a lot!

So no, do not throw this out! It is a good model and should last ya a while longer yet once it is fixed.. On to it

The damper is just a doorway similar to the vents in your home for the heat and cool. You flip the lever up and no air blows through but flip it down and you get the full effect. Close it halfway and you get some but not all. Same principal in your fridge and normally the "freezer" control should be set in the middle for the damper to be half open.

The defrost board is a counter.. Every eight hours that the fridge runs, it will shut down for 30 minutes and turn on the defrost heater as needed. Then "dwell" to allow water to drip off before it turns the fridge back on to cool. This does not control the cooling! It can if it is dead off, or if it stops defrosting.. But not in an "overcool" scenario like what you have.

Lastly you have the thermostat.. Think of it as a switch that works off temperature so it gets cold and turns off, it gets warm and turns on.

The thermostat usually goes bad and it does not run at all but it can go bad and never shut off!

Remember the switch?

SOURCE: Freezer and icemaker freezes, jams.

I have run into this before and found it very helpful to re-level the refrigerator. By leaning the fridge back toward the wall about an inch helped keep the water and ice in the tray. Remember to remove items that block air flow in the freezer. Remove the ice bin and clean it then start over with the fridge leaning back a little. Hope this helps.

Admiral american fridge freezer constantly blowing cold air into fridge compartment.

Changing the freezer settings won't really make a difference because regardless its still going to be freezing. The way the machine works is the freezer cools the fridge, and there should be a control in the fridge that operates the baffles in the airway between the freezer and fridge and reduces the amount of air that enters into the fresh food section.

The meat and veg drawers freeze the meat and veggies no matter what setting the temp. is on.

Freezing meat,vegetables. Problem with damper.

For this problem, its indicating towards problem with damper assembly.----------

The working procedure of this unit is as follows: --- The compressor starts then it cools the freezer section. When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold. The air from freezer to refrigerator passes from the section, in that section the damper is located. ----------- The damper is operated by a motor. Its a complete damper assembly with motor included in it.--The damper has door.Which closes and open with the help of motor. In your case the damper door is remained open, its not closing.Due to this the cool air from freezer section is running in to fridge section non-stop.Due to this the vegetables and other food in the bottom drawer freezing.--------- In this problem the damper assembly needs to be replaced.---------------

You can get required parts from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.

----------- This should help. Thanks.Helpmech.

Kitchen aid KSRG25FKSS04 freezer is not freezing

Hello, few things to check:

1) Remove dirt / dust that has accumulated on the condenser coil located on the back of the fridge, or underneath. Use a vacuum to clean off with.

2) Remove dirt / dust in / around compressor area. Make sure you turn power off first as there are several areas in this area that can "bite."

3) Look for heavy frost / ice buildup in the freezer compartment. Defrost if necessary.

4) Make sure the fan is blowing in the freezer compartment.

5) Make sure there is air flow from the vent at the top of the refrigerator compartment. This air is driven by the fan in the freezer (most models).

6) Loading a lot of unfrozen food into the freezer compartment will have the appearance of the fridge going out, but is actually functioning normally as it removes heat from the food so it will freeze.

7) Your thermostat is not working correctly. Move it to the coldest setting if not already done so. Listen for the compressor to kick on. If it doesn't, bad t-stat.

Thanks

Water dispenser suddenly stop working

Hi,

We have a Kitchen Aid that did the same thing. It could be that the reservoir tank is frozen or it could be that the line is frozen. We called Kitchen Aid, our fridge is under warranty, and they installed a freez kit over the tank and that solved the problem. The tank might be behind the vegetable trays on your fridge. What brand do you have?

Freezer will not keep foods frozen fridge will not keeep temp.

Sounds like a main control board problem keeping the freezer fan from working . If no air flow to the top of the freezer , the icemaker will stop working and the ice will begin to melt ( leaking from freezer ) . The coils will start to freeze up due to no air flow across them . If continued for a period of time , the cold air could return thru the return vent located in the bottom of the ref/freezer section and freeze the water tank in the refrig section , causing the no water thru dispensor .

Kitchen aid refrigerator freezing in refrigerator

Could you look inside the door near bottom outside frame of fresh food side and get the model numbers for me to assist you better. Also if you have a way to check the temperature as you change settings on the thermostat for the fresh food section. We need to see how the thermostat responds to changes in settings. If no changes then we need to focus on the thermostat. Also there is duct that comes from freezer that can have a damper opened or close to different settings. Let me know the model and I will pull up the drawings for your model. Thanks Sea Breeze
