Try a different brand of needle . Cheap Chinese are made to small.

Testimonial: "I am using Schmetz, a very good brand. I have tried three different needles from three different packages. Also, had my husband use Micrometers to check the diameters of the three different needles and they all measured to within .0005 of an inch. I think my problem has something to do with the cam and the little screw that's held within the needle clamp. Just wondering if a Viking/Husqvarna person had any information about the problem?"

SOURCE: My Brother XL5130 Needle Clamp Body felt out while I am sewing something. I do not know what is missing. I found 4 things in my hand Clamp Body, Pin,Clamp side screw & threads guide. some one plea

There is a hidden screw just that looks like a hole beside the screw that hold the needle... loosen it with # 8 allen key (pretty small) then you put the curved wire back in its hole, then you can put it back on the arm, then screw back the allen screw as tight as you can, this should do the trick worked for me ... I was tring for days to fix it back on but wouldnt go in...this invisible screw was to tight... Hope it helped !

After replacing the needle in my singer 8280, the needle clamp is not holding the needle tight, the needle falls down even after tighening it..how do i make the needle get fixed?

It sounds like you have lost the tread guide. When you press the clamp as far up as it will go, there should be a slot in the post underneath the clamp visible. You may need to use a mirror to see it. The thread guide snaps into that slot and keeps the clamp from falling down. Take it to any repair shop. It will not be expensive to repair.

Needle clamp tragedu

The needle clamp usually has a screw on the back that is tightened to prevent the needle holder from falling off. The screw on the back should be very loose. Place the holder on the arm (moves when you rotate the wheel by hand) with the screw towards the back and the hand screw on the side. Tighten the screw in the back and it shouldn't come off. Now, place the wire on the side where the hand screw on the inside of the hole along with the arm and place your needle in. Now you can tighten.

Thread keeps breaking

Upper thread breaks
needle may be in backwards
Raise the needle bar to the highest point then loosen the clamp screw to remove the old needle, place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side to the back of the machine
Push the needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go, then tighten the needle clamp screw
upper tension may be to tight
the needle may be bent or damaged
thread may be hanging up in bobbin case--check area for loose threads or lint

Thread keeps knooting up

is the bobbin threaded correctly ?
is the bobbin warped?
try rethreading the machine top & bobbin
change the needle
Correct needle insertion is mandatory for proper use of your sewing machine.
Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the needle clamp screw to remove the old needle.
Place the new needle in the needle clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back, (round needle, the groove in the needle should face away from the shaft).
Push the needle all the way up as far as it will go. Then tighten the needle clamp screw.
check to make sure every thread guide is used
