SOURCE: medion akoya e1210 notebook. failure to boot pxe

Failure to boot PXE 061 is a BIOS message that indicates 2 things:

  1. System failed to boot to the hard drive
  2. System failed to boot to a network connection
The apparent problem is failure to boot to the hard disk. If the system was running yesterday and there have been no hardware changes to the system, then most likely failures are:
  1. HDD failure (Replace the HDD, reinstall OS and applications) I hope you have information backed up.
  2. HDD not being detected by the motherboard due to connection issue (Remove HDD and reseat it, then see if seen in BIOS) If no change replace hard drive, if new drive not seen, replace motherboard

SOURCE: my medion akoya laptop won't load past intel screen

This is a hard drive issue or windows have corrupt files, if you have the installation disc try and reload the operational system, if no change! have the hardware checked out at a computer repair store.

No sound from built in speakers

It could be that you need up to date sound drivers. You can download from
http://johnsondrivers.com/download-driver/MEDION/AKOYA-S4213-MD-98064
If that fails, take it back to your retailer or get in touch with Medion

I have a medion akoya E1222, and when you type the cursor will move to a different part of the text.. muddling up the words...Very annoying

That is because your thumb is touching the cursor pad. It happens to everyone who uses laptops. Some laptop designers put the cursor pad off-centre because of this. With the akoya e1222 you can press [fn]+[f9] and that will disable the cursor pad. That way if you touch the pad by accident you don't mess up your words. When you need to use the mouse again press [fn]+[f9] again to re-enable the cursor pad.

With any laptop it pays to play with those function buttons. There are always some useful ones there.
