SOURCE: kenmore washing machine 80 series

check for kinks in the pipe or restrictions to the flow in the pipes before it gets to the washer, if all is ok then check the filter on the outside of the water connector on the machine for dirt

if you confirm all is clear and the flow of water is not the problem before the machine, replace the cold water solenoid

SOURCE: washing machine w827 drum fills when the machine is switched off

Before you replace the valve, try to back flush it. It may allow you to run water through it from both directions and clear the obstruction. That wil save you the cost of a new valve. Also, get some inlet hose filter screens. They go into the supply hoses, with the narrow pointed end toward the water supply.

SOURCE: Rinse water barely trickles out of my washer

Do you fill the machine with hot water only?

If so, this is what I suspect. The filters in the inlet hoses on the back of the washer need cleaning. Remove the garden hose connectors, remove filter, clean, replace.

When filling with hot only you get a lot of pressure thru one hose. When you rinse, the best you can do pressure-wise is cold rinse -- but the cold water filter is going to be more clogged than the hot so it delivers less water.

When you use warm rinse, you get mediium pressure thru both lines, again less water than al hot on filling the machine.

SOURCE: Kenmore 90 Series Washer : cold water fills at just a trickle:

your hot water goes through the water heater so contaminates settle in the heater. the cold does not, there is a screen inside the fill valve where the hose hooks to the valve on the machine. if this in not plugged then the fill valve will have to be replaced. because of the build up of contaminates..

When you start it the engine just runs and the machine doesn't fill up with water

Just beyond your filter that you cleaned you will feel some blades, plastic. These blades should turn freely, these are the pump blades, something shd be blocking it, which over flowed from your dirty filter.

Another thing is did your washer not fill with water on starting it? Well take of the power plug from the wall (imprtant before all these jobs!) turn off the washer, turn off the wall valve, unscrew the pipes to see if water flow is gud, check to see if anything is blocking your filters and he washing machine inlet valve. It has a fine filter and is detachable to clean.

Hi my wt960 leaks from the front of the machine. Usually on rinsing or spinning. It really has me baffled had it apart several times now. The filter is all clear. Does appear that the draw fills up alot...

I get this a lot on our Hotpoint WF860. The problem is that the drain pump is blocked by a bit of sock / breast pad / coins / hairbands etc! It is easy to fix by removing the hose which leads from the drum to the pump. I expect the problem will then be obvious if you look inside the pump.

Wasing machine fills with water during washing and wont pump out filling the drum...

1. Empty the drum via the filter / trap at the front (there is sometimes a drain pipe near the filter - otherwise be prepared to use lots of towels to soak up the water).
2. Check / clean the filter.
3. Ensure that the drainage pipe is not blocked.
4. Check that the pipe from the pump to the waste water pipe is not kinked / blocked.
5. Check that the pipe from the drum to the pump is not blocked.
6. Does the pump sound like it's trying to work? If not, it could be that the pump is dead. Pumps can often become blocked with fluff / slime from the machine.

Good luck!

Really bad smell from drum?

Power off the mains. The filter is located behind the silver plate at the back of the machine at the bottom. Four screws hold it on. Drain out all the water. The filter is inside the big black rubber hose attached between the pump and the main drum. Remove the plastic clip holding it to the pump unit and then the metal cir clip holding it to the main drum. Inside is a white molded cone and a big white ball which floats. You will find a lot of junk here, clean out thoroughly. To refit put white cone back inside just as you found it, at the bottom, fit ball back into the cone. Attach to the bottom to the drum and re-fasten the cir clip. Finally reconnect the hose to the pump unit and tighten the plastic clip. Check out the pump too before reconnecting. Being the first time you shd note what you doing, what goes where. You certainly don't need techs for this; and techs who come are useless anyway.

No water for rinse cycle

Take the fill hoses off the machine and clean out the filter inside, right where the hose attached to the machine. Also, check to make sure there are no filter washers in either end of the supply hoses. Sounds like you only have to check the cold water side in this case.
