Question about Precor Exercise & Fitness

Precor elliptical 5.33 won't turn on.

My Precor elliptical suddenly stopped working, and the console does not light up. Yes the outlet works, the power cord is good, and the power switch is flipped to the 'on' position. I removed the switch and tested the connections with a multimeter - which all work fine. I am wondering if it might have been a 'power surge' that created the problem. Does anyone have any advice about how to proceed with troubleshooting?

SOURCE: Amp Power LED Display blinks red and no sound

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. Does the voltage on either the B+ or remote pulse below ~11 volts when the LED flashes?

Make sure your cables are tight... take a q-tip with a little rubbing alchol and apply to game cartidge and inside the N64 where the cartridge fits in... wait until it drys (only about 5 minutes) and then try it. Sounds like it's just dirty:)

I have had a similar problem but not with this PC. Some power cords look the same but are slightly different in design. They may fit but often the cords are built differently and over time the pins wear and lose contact.

First, try another power cord from something you know is working. If this doesn't solve the problem then we need to look at the power supply itself.

That may have blown or overheated and cooked something (it happens). If the CPU fan is dirty with dust and you use the PC on non-hard surface ie. no air flow underneath, you will cook the thing.

The fact that the power supply doesn't light up indicates to me its simple power cord problem or a dead supply.

I would find the circuit breaker relay that supplies power to whichever power distribution box that contains the cooling fan relays. If the box has power, then you may want to consider the following: I feel that if you find out why the fans quit working, then you may also have solved the front turn signal issue.

Electric Fan(s) not working, Checking the fan(s), relay, fuse and engine temperature sensor's.
Verify that the fans work by unplugging them and run jumper wires to the fan(s) from the battery. If they run, your problem lies elsewhere. If either does not run, it's the motor.
Next thing to check is for power at the fan connectors. You have to be cautious doing this because the engine needs to be running and warm if not almost hot, and the A/C also needs to be on. (Both must be on and running for the duration of this checklist.) The A/C fan is on the passenger side and should come on almost the instant the A/C is turned on. It is also the secondary engine cooling fan and should cycle on and off in relation to engine temperature, (If the A/C is OFF). Use a test light to probe the two wires on each fan. If you find power, the fan motor(s) is/are probably bad. If there is no power to fans, roll up your sleeves!

The temperature switch is usually located above the oil filter. If the dash gage is working, its probably OK. Next is the Fan Control Temperature Sensor, located IN or CLOSE to the thermostat housing. You will find out if it is working later is this checklist. I just wanted you to know where it is. Next is the relays and fuse's. Usually located in the engine compartment on the passenger side power distribution box. You will need to remove anything over the cover to open it. If the fuses are OK, tap on the relays or pull them out and push back in. If the fans are still not running, pull a relay and probe the socket terminals for power. Two of the terminals should have power, usually criss-cross from each other. One hot terminal is battery power, and the other is the "signal" voltage which triggers the relay to send 12V battery power to the fan. This signal voltage comes from the sensor at the thermostat. If only one terminal has power, then I would replace the sensor at the thermostat, if not both sensors.

Precor elliptical says stuck key on upper display and sometimes flickers or doesn't even turn on at all.

A stuck tek generally means the hard overlay (with buttons) is faulty. I have seen where the entire console needed to be changed. The battery may have also been bad but this would have been for the flickering only.

My precor 517.1 elliptical does not turn on

I would start the troubleshooting process by confirming power at the wall outlet. If this checks out, follow power from the wall to the end of the cord. If you still have power at the end of the cord, check the power inlet. If you still have power on the back side of the power inlet, you may be looking at a bad control board. Look on the back for a reset button, it could be a small red button the size of pencil lead protruding slightly, push in on it. It could also be located in side a small hole the same size use a tooth pick or something none metallic to push with...

My Schwinn 420 elliptical is not powering on. The breaker and outlet source are fine. When I plug the machine in nothing powers on. The console displays nothing, no lights, etc.

test the power cord plug, in another device and see if working

2) replace batteries if your system has( clean the contacts from oxide,corrosion with contacts cleaner) and try again when you have isolated the problem

Step 1:

Remove the bolts or screws securing the console to the upright assembly. Lift the console and confirm that the cable connections are secure. Remove the cover from the console's battery bay and install a fresh set of batteries. Replace the battery cover.


Detach the ends of the pedals from the crank axles. Remove the left and right disc shields and side shields. Inspect the interior of the base unit and locate the flywheel.


Inspect the flywheel as it turns. Locate the magnet installed on the flywheel. Turn the flywheel until the magnet passes in front of the nearby reed switch. Loosen the screw securing the switch in place. Rotate the switch to reduce the gap between it and the magnet. Tighten the screw.


Replace the left and right disc shields and side shields. Reattach the ends of the pedals to the crank axles.
