Question about Locks & Locksmithing

Am installing a new model 909. when I put the key in all the way it will not turn. If I back it out some it turns. What should I do?

ther is a linkage between the key switch and the ignition switch that is under the dash on the steering column. it is called an accuator. i have been driving fords a long time and i have changed five of them since 1980 when ford put the switch on the column. you will have to start off by removing the steering wheel then yhe ignition switch and so on. it is tricky... but not bad..

Under the Troubleshooting steps at the bottom, you will see this text:

Q: I just completed the installation of a Smart Code unit on my door; I am unable to operate it manually, although I checked for smooth bolt operation during installation. What should I do?
A: You need to run the "Bolt Direction" routine again; allow the process to run to completion see Section 8 in User's Manual.

So please go through the installation instruction's Section 8 again. (Remove the battery pack first.) It is important to follow this procedure very carefully for success!

If you feel that you are following all steps correctly but the lock is still not functioning properly, please contact the Kwikset Customer Support:

My kwikset keyless lock no longer beeps when I press the keys on the key pad, I've taken out the batter pak and re-enstalled them after about 5 min but still no more beeps....

It is important to pay attention to the details starting in Step 7, battery replacement for the lock to operate properly.

In Step 11 you will notice that it is possible to turn off the beep function with ip switch #3. You may have this function disabled.

Also, please review the Frequently Asked Questions in Section 13 before you begin any other steps; you may find the answer that you need there.

Dead bolt does not align with the keypad, every time i turn the dead bolt it only goes in so far then i hear a click, and if i push the lock button it doesnt turn i hear a continuous click then the keys...

I have included a link to the installation instructions for the Kwikset 909 lock. I think that if you go through the installation instruction routine carefully, you will solve your problem. Pay particular attention to Step 8, the synchronization routine.

How do I change the lock to operate with my existing kwikset keys. I have three other Smartcode locks all keyed alike and would like this new deadbolt to take the same key as well.

I just installed a Kwikset lock but when I put the code in to unlock it, it unlockes but the keypad turns red for 3 seconds.

i hope this helps someone. i just spent three hours trying to fix this problem. this occurance happens when the internal assembly is screwed down too tight to the door - somehow it doesnt give it enough give to turn the lock 100%. just loosen up the screws from the assembly to the door, and everything should now function correctly.

Key will not start f150 truck I can circumvent and turn it over but how do I put in new switch

Disconnect negative on battery. Pull steering wheel with steering wheel puller. Take off turn signal assembly.

Put key in old lock, turn to on, you will see small hole on top of steering housing, put in stiff wire to push back retainer holding old lock, pull old lock out, install new lock, reverse procedure.

un screw the back cover located on the inside of the door , unscrew the two srewa inside that holds the front key pad , when it is removed you will find is has couled tags inside that are placed on regired key numbers for entry good luck
