Tip & How-To about Washing Machines

LG Washing Machine UE error but not out of balance fix.

I had a LG front load washing Machine developed a UE Fault. Shocks Pump and drainage good and bearings good. Machine not out of balance.

Everything I looked at for a balance sensor did not provide the answer. Some even suggested the Hall sensor. This senses the drum rotation via a magnetic field similar to car ignition.

The Balance is sensor is part of the water level switch. The water level sensor and bottle at hose was cleared yet the fault continued.
Changed the water pressure switch all fixed and working perfect.
There must be some kind of sensor in the water pressure switch, sloshing and causing the sensor to trip or perhaps the sensor went to sensitive?

LG shows code UE

the balance is controlled by the motor. if its unbalanced it usually means its overloaded or the shocks on the drum are misaligned or the springs are weak or stretched. worst case the bearing has gone. so check these.

LG Washing Machine stops spinning in mid cycle

IE:

• Water supply is not adequate in
area.
• Water supply taps are not
completely open.
• Water inlet hose is bent.
• The filter of the inlet hose clogged.

Solution:
Check another tap in the house.
Fully open tap.
Straighten hose.
Check the filter of the inlet hose.

UE:
• Load is too small.
• Load is out of balance.
• The appliance has an imbalance
detection and correction system. If
individual heavy articles are loaded
(bath mat, bath robe, etc.) and the
imbalance is too great, after several
attempts to restart the spin cycle the
machine will stop and the error code
will be displayed.

Solution:
Add 1 or 2 similar items to help
balance the load.
Rearrange load to allow proper
spinning.

LG WM12220fd

I believe that UE is the fault of an unbalanced load which caused the drum to hit the switch or faulty load balance switch.

If the switch is stuck you can try to shake the inner drum kind of violently up and down (you won't be able to hurt it).

If the machine exibits the same error code with the drum empty then it is possible that the switch is damaged and will have to be replaced.
