FWIW, needle threaders are not good on most machines. They are very delicate and are easily bent or damaged.

For manual threading, it helps to lick your finger and then swipe it across the back of the needle eye. Take the end of the thread and start slightly above the needle eye and slide it down toward the eye and the thread will usually slip right through the eye.

SOURCE: Singer Athena automatic needle threader does not work.

Check on the threader and see if the part that goes through the eye of the needle is bent. This is a very common problem. The threaders are becoming more and more difficult to replace. If the piece is bent, you can usually use a pair of tweezers to straighten it out.

The small hook that passes through the eye of the needle is bent or broken. If it is only bent it can be straightened with a small screw driver. If it is broken it will need to be replaced. Most dealers can get this part for you for about $5.00

The automatic threader wont pick up and thread needle. Can do manually but thats not easy?

to make manual threading of a needle easy buy a needle threader
it is a instrument that has a very fine piece of wire in a loop that you push through the eye of the needle , put the thread in that loop and pull the loop back out of the eye and the needle is threaded
available from most any shop that sells material , cotton , thread or sewing machine shops
cost --pack of 2 for $1.00 or there abouts

There's nothing wrong with the Threader, it's just that the Threader doesn't reach the back of the Needle!

Usually you have to manually move the needle up and down until its height matches the threader height. Newer machines have an automatic needle stop that generally matches the threader but most older machines need to be manually manipulated.

HINT: If you do need to manually thread your needle, lick your index finger and then rub the back of the needle's eye. Your thread will literally "leap" through the eye! This works for hand-sewing needles too!

I cannot get the CE-250 automatic needle threader to work. Threader and needle do not align up together.

Always make sure you rotate flywheel to raise the needle to its highest position before trying to use the threader. additionally the correct needle has to also be used so the threader wire and needle eye line up properly.

I changed my needle on my singer 3116 and the needle threader does not work anymore. Hope you have an answer! Thanks!

It is probably out of alignment, just turn your needle threader so that the little wire goes through the eye of the needle and will catch thread. Also, sometimes the needle you put in has too small of a hole to thread easily with the automatic needle threader.

Self threader won't work

the needle should be in the up position or the threader won't come down, still when it does, you have to get the thread right across the hole in the needle for it to catch,

another problem is that you bent or broke the center pin that pulls the thread through the needle,

the tip that comes to the needle has three parts, the two outer ones that wrap around the needle and the center pin that goes through the hole in the needle,

If this is bent you may be able to bend it back if broke you need to get it replaced

take a good magnifier and take a look at the center pin!

Hope this helps

Cannot use automatic needle threader

The solution to the threader being higher than the needle: Use the handle on the right side to manually raise your needle up to it's highest point. Thant should work!

Automatic needle threader on brother se-350

Hi - first, make sure that you raise the needle to as far up as it will go. When you thread the machine, make sure you pass the thread through each number along the path - there is a hook on the threader mechanism that is really easy to miss. It is always a good idea to refer to the book when you are having a problem.

You might also try changing the needle. The threader has a teeny hook that goes in to the eye of the needle from behind, grabs the thread, and pulls it back thru the eye of the needle.

The threader can go out of alignment. If you got the machine last fall, it should still be under warranty. You can call Brother and ask where you can take the machine for repair. Or, you can go to Brother's website and look for information that might be helpful.

Good luck,
Ginny
