It all depends upon the lens. Not all lenses can accept teleconverters, usually due to projecting rear elements incorporated into the individual lens design. With such lenses, manufacturers will either advise that a particular lens will not be compatible with a teleconverter or for some models may produce a custom matched model usually for that lens alone.
Which exact lens are you trying to fit to your Sigma 1.4x EX APO DG teleconverter?

The Sony ALpha camera actually use a Konica/ Minolta lens mount. a 500 or 1000mm lens won't have any really mechanical connection to make, so if you can find the lens with a Minolta mount , it should fit. BTW- most of those long lenses require a T mount adapter to fit on ANY camera-
