Where to obtain user guide for marantz sd-160 dual deck cassette player

Hello, Edward -

I have only been able to find Service Manuals for the Marantz SD-160 dual deck cassette player for sale.

I was unable to find the operating manual for the vintage cassette player / recorder on the Marantz website.

However, if you have not yet already done so, I suggest you contact Marantz Support, either via phone or email, and ask if there is a copy of the operating manual for the SD-160 in the company archives and if they could provide you (sell you) a photocopy or scanned PDF version of the manual. This is the link to the Marantz Support page:
https://marantz.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/104/kw/manual/related/1

If that option doesn't work out, Option 2 is to find one or more online sellers (eBay, Craigslist, Amazon, etc.) of the model of cassette player / recorder and see if they mention the operating / owner's manual in the product sales information. If they don't mention a manual, I suggest contacting the seller/s and asking if they have the manual.

If you find an online seller with the manual, ask if he / she would either photocopy the manual for scan it as a PDF document and sell it to you.

Best wishes.

http://tapedrivebelts.com/. If they don't have you belt they will be able to guide you the right direction. Ebay is a great source for these as well. If you know the length then there are hundreds of online places to get them.

Kenwood KX-79 CW dual cassette hook up?

Just connect the deck via tape 1 the out of the deck going to the in of the amp. While the out of the amp goes to the in of the deck.

The tape deck itself will automatically choose the player that plays the cassette. One will play the other will be on pause (if you press both play buttons) till the tape stops then the other will play. For recording from tape to tape one deck will be the copy and the other the copier. There should be a dubbing button which you press to record tape to tape. Some models have a high speed dub also. For recording from the amp unless both decks have record buttons you will only be able to record with one deck. Make certain the dub button is not set.

Connect Yamaha stereo cassette player KX 380 to htr-6025 receiver

HI RICHARD

To connect your cassette player to your receiver, you may have to use an RCA-type of plug (you know, the red & white plugs on both ends.

I have a used Marantz PDM510 dual cassette deck. Both decks seem to be doing what they're supposed to (tape is moving fine) except no sound is showing on the indicators and no sound is coming through...

I have a Marantz PMD511 which is almost identical. I'm not certain exactly what the difference is, but I don't think it would be anything that would make this problem not apply to either.

It's hard to imagine that both decks would go bad at the same time, but, of course, it is possible.

I'm guessing you problem is on playback. Of course, the very first thing to do is make certain that there is something recorded on the tape. Even if you think there is, make sure by playing the tape in another player...any player. One time a friend of mine laid a cassette tape down on a high-powered speaker laying in my studio, and the magnetism wiped the tape clean. So...make sure. A clean tape would be the most likely reason for your problem as you have described it.

Next, I'm thinking you've tried both decks, which remember, are totally independent.
Of course, if neither set of meters are showing a signal from either deck (A or B), it doesn't look good. Again, re-check the tape itself.

Good luck, Tom
