Are you sure you do don't have the system muted?
Press the Menu, then System Setup, press SET. Select VOLUME then press SET.Adjust the volume with the left/right arrow keys, then click set.
Hope this helps...

Do you mean playback on the camcorder, or playback via a TV or PC ? If on the camcorder, there may be a menu setting for this - check the manual. If TV or PC, use the volume control on that. Alternatively, there may be a menu setting to permit you to record at a higher volume. Be careful if you choose this, as background noise will also increase in volume.
make sure the power adapter is connected, you can not finalize on battery power alone. also make sure you are in playback mode...it will say original in the top left corner..then you should be able to finalize when you go into the menu
follow this link to your manual http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/starbattery/DC100.pdf
1 open cover and move slider down to C 2 press the stop start half way once auto focus is adjusted O will turn green and 1 or seveal af frame will apear. 3 press start stop fully the DISC access indicator will flash as image is being recorded.
i had the same problem. you may have plugged your power supply into the a/v slot near the function button..that is what i did. there is another place near the lens to plug it in. try that and then finalize should be an option.
