I have a Whirlpool side by side model ed5kvexvb00. The indoor water slowed down to a trickle and the ice started making hallow cubes. I assumed there was an issue with the filter and replaced it. Same behavior. However when I completely remove the filter, the water flows great. This has me puzzled as I didn't even think the water would work without a filter in place.
More than likely the saddle valve...the valve you or the plumber installed to tie into the water line and shut it off for filter install. it's getting clogged up. Turn it all the way off and on again 3 or 4 times this should clean out the little hole feeding thru the valve from the pipe.
hope this helps.
take a look here...pics of a saddle valve.

I don't seem to have a saddle valve. This also doesn't seem to make sense why there would be pressure when the filter isn't installed.
EdTorn..eeks i'll have to defer this one watched some video's on replacement etc I see where they say you can just leave it out if you have a whole house filter system so they have a built in bypass. I don't know but it said it could take 5 minutes to purge the air out and get a full flow.
maybe someone else can pipe in.
Best to you.
yeah water taste poor without the filter... :)

SOURCE: slow water flow
dadcanfix. There are two possibilities here. One could be the water valve itself, clogged or not seating or opening properly. The second would be the water tank on the refrigerator side, partially frozen. I believe they have a kit now with coiled tubing that replaces that tank because of the trouble they had with it. Remove the refer drawers and take a hair dryer and go over the tank lightly. See if that improves the water flow. Catriver..post back.

Is the ice maker wire shutoff arm or switch (depending on
models) in the OFF position?
Is the water line shutoff valve to the refrigerator turned on?
Has the ice maker just been installed? Is the freezer
temperature cold enough to produce ice? Wait 24 hours
after ice maker hookup for ice production to begin. Allow
3 days after ice production begins to completely fill ice
container.
Does the ice maker mold have water in it or has no ice
been produced? Make sure your refrigerator has been
connected to a water supply and the supply shutoff valve is
turned on.
Has a large amount of ice just been removed? Allow
24 hours for ice maker to produce more ice.
Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? The filter
may be clogged or installed incorrectly.
Is an ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
For models with an interior ice bin, remove the ice from the
ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
Is a reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? Make sue your connections are secure.

common low flow is a kinked line or a bad water valve, the solioid valve has a filter that may be dirty. then go from there
