No heat (replaced heating element and another

I have a maytag performa (electric) dryer that doesn't produce heat. I replaced the heating element and another small part electrically connected part (may be some kind of relay.?) and it still produces no heat. The drum turns, its 220a with its own circuit breaker. Any ideas?

It sounds like you replaced the heating element and the small thing you refer to was most likely the thermal fuse. If these are the components that you replaced, and if they are indeed good, the next thing to look at if the dryer is not heating up is the high limit thermostat. It is most likely faulty if the element and thermal fuse are good. Hope this helped and best wishes. Here is a picture of a thermal fuse and high limit thermostat to help you figure out what is what.

I have a maytag performa electric dryer with no heat, checked fuses, replaced heat element and thermostat, any ideas

Have you checked to make certain you have the proper voltage where the dryer is plugged in? 220v? A dryer will run on 110v but requires 220v to heat. Could be a problem with the breaker in the breaker box. If you are not familiar with electricity, I suggest you find someone knowledgeable ie professonial

I have a maytag performa dryer wont heat up sometimes

Hello there:
If there is no heat or heat sometimes please try these solutions
Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Maytag Performa electric dryer MDE2300AYW won't heat

If it isn't producing any heat at all then the element is more than likely burned out. It's a pretty routine situation and you can probably fix it yourself if you have any experience with tools. Once you take the back off of the dryer it becomes somewhat self explanatory. Unplug it first! If you don't do that kind of thing then there's still no worries. Appliance repair centers do this job every day and it's usually pretty reasonable and doesn't take more than an hour once they get around to it. I'd predict a bill in the $50-60 ballpark. ANY service center can do this little job as well as any other so find the cheapest one. You should be able to get an estimate (if not exact price) over the phone.

My maytag dryer heating element gets hot but motor will not run

Sounds like you have something shorted out.

The element issue could be a contact fused shut.
With both problems I would be looking for wires melted together, or a relay/sequencer welded shut melted etc.

You do have a potential fire hazzard here. If after removing the panel you cannot locate the problem, do not run the unit.

Dryer element won't get hot

for safety reasons it has its own fuse and that may be your issue (new fuse $5)
To be safe i'd also get new thermostat ($15)

Maytag performa runs no heat how do I access the heating element?

Well if it runs then the fuse is ok so what you need to do is pop the top and check the high limit thermostst and heating element located at the rear of the machine. The top on most of these machines comes up easilty if you use a putty knife or five in one. Be sure to disconect the power source. a12fee1.jpg
