Have 40in technika tv 5 yrs old the stand by light is flashing and no pictureor sound and is not responding to the remote control

hi, usually its the infrared receptor that need to be replace, he is placed near the stand by light.
in a rare case the problem is at the 5v voltage that goes to the receptor. more rare is the possibility
that something is wrong at the microprocessor circuit. good luck!

Souds like the tv has condensation on the circuits, keep using it may dry off the condensation. Switches will start working again.

If the TV stays in stand-by, with the LED light on, but does not respond to remote, or to the buttons on the chassis, then that means that the TV has gone in protect (safe) mode because an internal fault had been detected.

Follow the basic troubleshooting on this article: Why my TV does not start up, by disconnecting power cord and connected devices. The article is for rear projection TVs procedure is same on CRT, LCD and Plasma TVs. Disconnect power cord for at least 30 minutes, and test using different connected devices.

If that does not work, then a technician must test the TV and replace the faulty component. In that case contact the support number listed on the owner manual to get the TV repaired by a licensed technician.

The Power Supply is probably causing the problem if you are not getting any response or LED flash or Stand by

how old is your tv?? ours was 2 1/2 yrs old it was a 40in lg hd ready lcd tv it just crackled and turned off one night same as yours it would turn on but with no picture or sound....we took it for repair and they said it was something inside that is basically impossible to fix...it would have cost more that the tv itself. BUT trading standards say a brand new tv should last upto 3yrs...you need to get a free qoute nd if they cant fix it contact trading standards and the tv MANUFACTURER not the shop where you got it....you NEED a reciept to do this for proof of when you purchased it...hope this helps :0)

0246 is the code 1st cover the top of the remote with your hand press TV you can now move your hand, now press and hold select and the red button togeather the remote light will flash twice enter the code 0246 then press select cover top again and press SKY button it should now control your tv

Your using a universal remote from what U am understanding, Two solutions for ya

1)diffrent remote all togeather from radioshack

or

2) the Tv's IR is not working

Auto code search

1. switch on the TV and select a channel eg. Bbc1 on the TV itself
2. press the appropriate device button eg. TV
3. press the green SET button for approx 5 seconds until the red light comes on.
4. release the green SET button and point the remote at the device to be controlled, the remote will emit a test signal about every 2 seconds.
5. when the TV switches itself off briefly press the green SET button to store the code found.
6. when the red light goes out the search is ended.
7. try out the remote if it works follow the same steps to set it to other devices eg. DVD. If it does not work follow the steps again.
