SOURCE: Cannon mx 310 error 5100 Says chck printr with alarm light flashi
heres the problem from service manual: error 5100, a error occured in your encoder signal, it list 4 things in the serice manual.
carriage unit. carriage motor, logic board, timing **** film.
ok my first thing i would look at is the film that runs directly behind the print head i would think it is dirty. just turn on printer and get print head to the middle and turn off machine, gentle move print head to one side and gentle clean the film strip with a cloth with a little metho on it, move print head to other side and clean other part of ****.
i reckon that will fix your problem its a common problem they tend to get a bit of grease on the timming ****.

SOURCE: Error message 6A00 says:
Hi there
This answers with a titch more detail.
The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.
Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code.
As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move.
Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.
And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit.
The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs replacement.
Incidentally, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years, its not just used in one model.
And it’s always a paper path error or purge unit.
The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.
That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.
So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.
Also clean the purge unit out make sure all is clean.
Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Waste ink absorber full [5B00]. That means that you have filled the sponge where the cartridges are when they don't print. If you have printed a lot lately, that's quite normal, because every time you print, the cartridges spray some ink that is left on the nozzles and go on that sponge. Open the printer, take the cartridges and the printing head out. Locate the sponges and take a lot of tissues. Clean the mess and i guess it will start working again.
