Question about Hotpoint Washing Machines

1 Answer

Hotpoint BHWD129/1 washer drier. I switch it on and after 10 seconds button lights start to flash the machine starts filling and filling until I switch it off. LEDs lit are the bottom 4 of 6.

Within the first 10 seconds I can set the programme to PUMP OUT and Start, and the machine starts to pump out water. It drains correctly until it goes into error state. If I turn off the water supply and switch it off and on I can do this again and again until the machine is empty. No matter what buttons I press and even if I press no buttons it will still go into error state after about 10 seconds. EDIT: for future reference, a technician came round, changed the heating element of the dryer and everything is working again.

SOURCE: What is causing the drain pump to continue running

C1 - Partially Blocked Drain - This error will occur when dishwasher was unable to pump out water in less than 95 seconds. Check drain line for debris and blockage. If clear, check for a restricted drain valve in the pump. Check the pressure sensor for correct operation as it sounds like it may be defective and thinks that the machine is still full of water after it has emptied.

SOURCE: Set to any cleaning cycle, hit the start button

Hi
If you believe that the latch is fine then try to hear a hum like sound from the motor, also check that the motor is working fine as it that won't work the unit won't start the cycle. If everything else seems to be fine then it is the Timer that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Lights flashing on Hotpoint BHWM129

I had a similar problem with my Hotpoint BHWM 129 washing machine. The washer would not spin or drain properly and all the lights flashed after a wash cycle.
The solution was to pull the washer out and UNBLOCK the drain pipe which was crushed AND filled with 'gunk'. Once the crushed pipe was massaged back to normal size and the gunk was removed my problem was fixed. Not a nice job but I was going to ring HOTPOINT at £125 a call out fee so I am happy. I hope this helps someone else in time.

Is it a dishwasher a washing machine or a drier? Washing machines don't have rotating arms and you said "I've managed to get the drier to drain"

I will assume it is a dishwasher in which case it sounds like your pump has failed.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

I am fairly confident that the problem is entirely due to the fact that the heater is not working.
You are going to have to wait until the new heater is fitted beore being able to tell if there is another fault.
Hope this helps.

Machine fills and drains at the same time.

Check the height of the drain hose and make sure the drain hose is higher than 30 inches from the ground. If your drain hose drains into the floor you may need to purchase a siphon break to stop the problem
