SOURCE: Cassette player not working

Cassette players usually have a little rubber band that connects the motor to the spindles. If everything else is fine, I would suggest seeing if it slipped off somehow (or got cracked and snapped)

SOURCE: bad disc error on cd player

I'm sure these are good CD's that you are putting in (i.e. not scratched) but are they CD's that were burned from a computer? Some disk burned from computers cannot be read by older p[layers. If not than I would by a laser cleaning kit. This is a specials disk with small bristles attached to it. You add cleaning solution to some or one but not all. Then insert the disk in the player. This will clean the laser lens. The kits are cheap to buy but harder to find these days, check on-line but some department stores might have them. Check to see if the disk is spinning up by listening closely. Either way if cleaning the lens doesn't work you might have to replace the whole unit. Although, I suggest at that point to hard wire a aux input through the antenna wire. That way you can plug in a cheap MP3 player that can hold many of your CD's and play through your stereo.

SOURCE: Olds Cutlass factory radio/cassette, radio doesn't work.

When you say tried different radio and it didn't work, does this mean the tuner acts like it is functioning, but you hear nothing out of the speakers?

If so, this stinks of a bad ANTENNA...

Rs 1286 rack system,cd tray not working properly, player wont read or play disc (made by rca)

If the radio and cassette work, then your CD lens needs to be cleaned. You can buy a cleaner CD, or you can do a better job by removing the case (MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF) and then clean the lens with a Q-Tip and denatured alcohol.

I need a power cord for RP-7986 AM/FM Stero Radio/Cassette Recorder/Compact Disc Player.

Depending on where you live, you can find them at Radio Shack, Walmart, most discount electronics parts stores, etc. They are universal except for the physical plug style at the unit side. Best bet is to take the unit with you if possible for a perfect match. Hope this helps
