SOURCE: Adjust Motorcycle Clutch Cable

Usually there are 2 adjustment points. One at the clutch lever, and one on the clutch pull on the crankcase. Follow the cable from the handlebars to the engine, there should be an adjust bolt or two. The adjustment at the handlebar lever is usually a screw with a thumbwheel lock nut. Depending on what you are trying to adjust, dictates which one you will use and in what direction it will go. If the clutch is slipping, use the thumbwheel adjuster. Loosen it, back the screw out 2-3 turns, tighten. and check you clutch. if this one is all the way out, go to the crankcase, loosen the bolt on the richt side of the bracket first, then loosen the left one, one turn at a time, checing the clutch. once it's where you want it. tighten the right bolt only. You can do this with a set of open end or box wrenches. An adjustable wrench works in a pinch.

SOURCE: clutch adjustment

There are to different adjustments you can make. The most common adjustment made is on the clutch cable under the rubber boot real easy to figure out once you slide the boot off. The second is at your ramp and ball. I don't ride a RK so I don't know the exact method, but if you stop by your local library they might have a manuel that explains it in detail. My library does.

SOURCE: Need to make a clutch adjustment on 1991 Mazda B220 pickup

The clutch pedal can be adjusted inside the truck under the dash. You need a 10mm and a 12mm open wrenches to make the adjustments.there is a 3-4 inch threaded rod that you loosen the 12mm lock nut then you can turn the rod with your fingers or the 10mm wrench. Turn the rod so it gets longer toward in the direction of the engine. then start the truck and check how the clutch feels. when it feels right then tighten up the 12mm lock nut. If this does not solve the problem then you may need a new clutch.

SOURCE: clutch needs adjustment

as the clutch wears the "free pedal" is reduced ... its easy to adjust "free pedal" and important to do so .. when there is very little or no free movement above where the clutch engages/disengages then the clutch starts to wear rapidly ... if there are no other symptoms like clutch chatter, slipping or noise then the clutch plate likely has some life left if it is adjusted properly and promptly ..

Im helping my friend put a starter in a 08\89 model 1200 cu harley but i was dismantled -everything makes sense except the the 2 clutch adjusting screw nuts 1 is floating on adjusting screw the other is...

You must be talking about the clutch adjuster nut and the lock nut on the sportster clutch release mechanism. The internally threaded nut with the adjuster nut goes in first and it is used to adjust the clutch. With the clutch cable as loose as you can get it. Turn the adjuster screw counter clockwise as far as it will go. Then turn it back clockwise 1/4 turn. Now, align the adjuster screw so that the "floating" unthreaded nut will go in hole. This prevents the adjuster from turning and acts as a lock nut. Then the spring goes in and finally the derby cover. Go to http://www.bikebandit.com and look up your bike under the OEM parts section. You should be able to find an exploded view of your clutch.

Good Luck
