Question about Maytag Refrigerators

I have a maytag refrigerator 3 years old came with house. The model number I m1txegmyw01. It makes a clicking noise and the lights go dim every 3 seconds until finally the frig turns itself off.

How long a period of time have you noticed this noise? If it just started and the refrigerator just stopped it could have entered its defrost cycle. When the defrost heaters come on you may hear the heat causing some expansion. After a few minutes(18-22) the defrost cycle ends and the refrigerator will restart.

This can be due to low supply voltage, causing the compressor thermal overload to trip out. Therefore when this happens the compressor gets hot and it keeps trying to start but fails. It can also be a faulty starter relay, which is located in the conncetion box of the compressor and is very simple to replace.

I have the exact same problem.
It stopped dispensing water and ice, then it started to make a clicking noise and now the freezer and the refrigerator don't work.

It's interesting that this failure occurred 3 months after the 5 year warranty expiration.

Refrigerator not cooling, clicking

Any parts house will have the part . If you had put the model number in , I could have given you the part number . When you go to get the part , take the model number with you . Only 2 or 3 wires connect to the overload/relay , so is very simple to replace . It usually 'breaks' due to dirty coils , power surges , power off then on at a rapid rate , or time .

We had the same thing happen a little while back. The compressor went out and had to be replaced (it was under warranty, but the labor wasn't covered)

Your start relay and condenser are defective, it would appear. They are there to 'kick' the compressor into starting. They should then click off and reduce the power sent to the compressor. When they don't, you get the dimming lights. See your local library for any service information they may have on the shelf. Your issue should not be model specific. About the control panel, cycle the connectors. You may catch the problem.

Door dispenser stopped dispensing, starting making a constant clicking and now the entire fride isn't working

We had the same problem. Our frigerator is 1.5 year old. Everytime we try to dispence water or ice the dispencer clicks and the whole thing turns of. We had a GE repairman come by: the electronic board needs to be replaced: total cost $350. (cost of the board only: $150. We are considering disconnecting the dispencer by unplugging the board (according to the repain man the ice maker wil still work)or buy a new refrigurator (for sure NO GE!!!!!!)
