Generally, nothing. You will need to put a rinse agent in every couple months ... and you may want to run a special dishwasher cleaner product ... as long as you dont load the machine up with a lot of food (rinse off the plated before yo put them in) and you use hot water ... you should be good. Of couxrse, you should review the user manual for particulars on your machine. You can get further information from Whirlpool

go to Google and put in the model number, if you know it. You may get the Whirlpool site from which you can also search for it. That is the way I find most of the manuals I post for people here.

sometimes those dispensers become defective,, make sure nothin is obstructing it from opening possibly dishes or rack attachments,, if not then u will need to order a new dispenseer assembly if this is a whirlpool built kemore,,,( kenmore just puts there name on aplliances, they dont build them) just to let u know if u didnt know already...

deteremine your model number go to sears online check out there parts and service page and research parts by puttin in your model number and determine the part number for your model ,,,, i believe they vary from 20 to 60 dollars ,, this is somethin you could do just have to get part and seperate the panles by removing the screws all around the inside door.. hope this helps
