Can not conect to wifi

the canon MP170 is not a wifi printer, you need to connect it to a computer via usb, if you have have a second computer on your network you may "share" the printer across the network.this will allow you to print wirelessly to the printer via the connected PC.

Printer will not comnnect to the network wireless model brother dcp-585cw

Hi,

People usually think connecting a printer via wireless is as simple as connecting a PC. However it is not the case. A printer need to communicate with every PC in the same internal network, however each PC will not communicate with other PCs in the same network to protect it private files and also the firewall settings. Next every PC is set to get a dynamic new IP address from the DHCP server everytime when it is powered up and plug into the network. But the printer need to get the same fixed IP address when it is powered up in the LAN.

So the Printer in a LAN need to set up a fixed IP address such that everytime when it is powered up, it has the same IP address that each PC could still get communicate with this Printer. Apart from setting this in the Printer, you also need to reserve this Fixed IP address with your Printer's MAC address in your DHCP server of the router. Otherwise it will get conflict with other PC or device that could have assigned the same fixed IP address. Then you have to setup your Firewall of your PC to let communication to this Printer. Else it will be blocked.

Lastly make sure you install the printer driver correctly in your PC with the same Win OS version such that it could detect the fixed IP address of your printer. Then it should work correctly.

Please let us know any problem you may have in future.

I have a D-link DGS-1005G. I have two computers connected and a printer. The D-Link is also connected via LAN. I can obtain internet connection to each computer with wireless and the printer will not...

Hi, you have to set up your printer as a device that can be communicated in your LAN by the two PCs.

To set up your printer properly in the LAN, you need to assign a fixed IP to this printer such that whenever it is switch on again, both PC still communicate to this printer without changing the new IP assigned to this printer.

You need to set up this fixed IP properly in your DLink router. For guidance please check this in your user manual of the Dlink. Please let me know any problem you may have again in future.

Your firewall block the communication. You will need to get into your protection software and allow 'full' access of MP Navigator (EXT)

How can I connect my kn 4035 printer to my laptop through a wireless network?

This printer has a lan connection built-in, you can connect this printer to a LAN port on your wireless router. You need to configure the IP address of the printer to work in the same IP address range that the wireless router uses so the printer can communicate with your network.

I had ATT DSL w/ a linksys wireless router. I was

So, both computers are on the lan segment of 2wire? How many lan ports on 2 wire? Can you do ipconfig from the command line on both computers to see what the addresses are? In most cases, the first 3 octets xxx.yyy.zzz.### should be the same. If not, then 2wire is configured for vlan and the computers are actually on different lan segments & cannot communicate with each other.
Another thing you can do to troubleshoot is to ping each other's address.
You have to first establish there is communication between the 2 systems before troubleshooting further. Otherwise, you could be wasting a lot of time.

Need my laptop to communicate wireless to printer

If the printer does not have a built-in network card/print server then there is a couple of ways to do this.
If you have a desktop computer connected to the wireless router with a LAN cable, then connect the printer to the desktop computer and make this printer a shared printer on your network. This means that the desktop computer and printer needs to be on when you want to print from the laptop.
The other way is to purchase a print server, connect the printer to the print server and connect the print server with a LAN cable to the Wireless router.
If you don't have sufficient network ports on the wireless router then you need to purchase a hub. Then connect the hub and wireless router with a LAN cable and then the print server to the hub and other computers to the hub.
Setting up the wireless printing will depend upon which method you want to adopt and I can advise you when further when you are ready.

Connecting new linksys n to our brother mfc685cw wireless printer. Printer will not read new linksys n router

Hi,

For isolation purposes, you may want to test the printer through the Linksys router via Ethernet cable and see if you can print if it is wired to the router. From there, configure the wireless printer to match the settings on your Linksys router. Once done, try printing again wirelessly.

Tips:
1. Make sure that they are on the same LAN segment. By default the IP address of the Linksys router is 192.168.1.1. so you may want to configure your printer using 192.168.1.2 for them to communicate.
2. Make sure that the wireless settings on the Linksys router match the wireless settings on your wireless printer. Check the SSID/Wireless Network Name and Wireless Security. All wireless settings should be the same for them to communicate wirelessly.

Dax router

The 2 wire Home Portal 100w is a Modem/Router combination with wireless. But it has only one LAN port. So I understand that you are trying to use a DAX router for extending the number or ports. The reason they may not communicate if 2wire LAN is connected to DAX WAN is both may have same IP address. If the router has similar IP on WAN and LAN, it will not communicate. For that changing DAX router's LAN IP will be a solution or you can do LAN to LAN cascading. Connect 2Wire LAN to DAX LAN and dont use the WAN port. This way you dont have to change anything in the configuration
