follow this recomendation.God bless you Temperature is a common reason why many Rear-projection
TVs do not perform well when they get to hot. You may start to see your TV
shutting down automatically when it overheats. Here are a couple of things you
can do to prevent overheating. First make certain any TV ventilation ports are
free and clear of debris and dust. Second make sure the TV has enough room
for airflow. Third, the temperature in the room should be around 72 degrees.
Due to the high degree of heat generated by a rear-projection TVs, it is not
advisable to watch TV on a hot days when you don't run the air condition. This
could cause damage to your TV.
Check the fan. Once the
television is turned off, it is just normal for its fan to become louder.
A projection TV actually depends on its lamp, which requires cooling so
that it will not prematurely burn out. If the room where your TV is placed
is very hot, the fan would also continue to run.
Replace projection lamp. To properly do this,
make sure that the lamp's bulb has cooled down and the TV is unplugged.
Carefully remove the cover of the lamp's compartment using your screwdriver
(Phillips-head). Unscrew the sealed part of the lamp that can be found at the
television's rear part. Take away the old lamp cartridge and then insert a new
one. Seal the lamp with screws, replace its cover and then screw tightly. iF THE Problem persist you have to fix it the power supply inside. God bless you
I have not seen this model Hitachi but I have never seen one with 2 fans for the lamp---in all cases there is usually only one-
Hitachi only offers service manuals online and only to authorized repair shops with a user name and password. If two fans ARE involved it is unlikely both would be bad---flying by the seat of our pants I would suggest if possible to check the voltage at the fans---or even spin them to see if they will suddenly work---dirt can cause a fan to slow or stop and the set would either shut down or issue some kind of "fan failure" or temperature warning.
I am willing to help as much as possible and I understand the desire for a diagram but that is unlikely.
Let me know if I can assist or such in any way---I do this here for free but am here to help people.

by pops? do you mean it explode? how many lamps? it could be the fan that supposed to be ventilating the lamp or it could be the the ballast, why the ballast because the ballast regulates the voltage in order the keep the lamp on, for ignition it sends around 15,000 volts after that it regulates the votage to a small amount of voltage around 5,000 so it could be sending the big amount of voltage all the time never regulates that or it could be regulating and then sending another big amount of voltage over and over until the lamp doesnt handle those changes.
I think its a thermal sensor that is stuck open is my expert opinion the powersupply relay would have nothing to do with this. Get a service manual you will see what I am saying.
I feel like you explained it quite clearly this liquid mercury lamp in your set has to cool down by way of the lamp fans or it can cause them to prematurly fail.
Your lamp is burned out . I have a 52" hitachi lcd as well, and i have hadd to replace the lamp once a year. its a mercury based bulb which emulates alot of heat and if your exhaust fans are not working properly it will cuase it to fail or burn out more frequently than it should. cost is @ $120.00 for replacement bulb
