Without an exect model number all I can suggest is look for a button on the remote labelled EPG

Blank screen , check for Video Drive circuits

Check power supply , could be capacitors

Check

Flyback Transformer

and surrounding components

I have a rear projection 55" AKAI television. It turns off and on over and over again without me doing anything. This just started out of nowhere.

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast.Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp..Have a blessed one!

Water stain on the front of our Akai PT5499 Projection TV

Hmm... should evaporate on its own. The only way to access behind the screen is to take the whole back off the TV, and then inside theres another panel that covers the main reflector and screen. I wouldnt recommend doing that just for water tho.

Convergence Problem

I'm not a 100% positive this would fix your TV, but I found the convergence board on PartStore.com for about $80. Hope this helps.

Edges of Picture & Text Sloping

This mis probably a cold solder connection in the horizontal circuitry called the pincussion. Theres a couple of coils and resistors that overheat from time to time and the solder connections get loose. Not really for a handiman has this tv has hi vboltage inside even when turned off. Shouldnt cost an arm ans a leg to fix if the repair shop knows what they Are doing. Good Luck
