I have just changed the battery on my 2003 r6 and now Im trying to reconnect the new one and the alarm keeps going off.

Yes I know this problem well I had the same problems with my first battery change on a Suzuki with an alarm. Does your alarm have a service mode if so engage this mode before doing anything with the battery. Now you need to find the bikes fuse that powers the alarm and remove it. The removal and refitting of batteries on bikes is critical especially those with alarms, ALWAYS UNDO THE NEGATIVE LEAD FIRST, THEN THE POSITIVE FOR REMOVAL. WHEN RE-FITTING CONNECT THE POSITIVE FIRST THEN THE NEGATIVE. This helps to prevent any volt or current spikes affecting alarms and sensitive electronic equipment.

Battery changes used to be easy but the more electronic gizmo's a bike has the more difficult it is to change things. Good luck and hope this helps.

Does this unit have a battery that needs to be changed?

Yes, it uses a standard 9-volt battery with an average lifetime of 3 years. On this page is a video which shows low battery indications and how to change the battery:

How to change the battery on my BE365-CAM-716 Schlage Keypad Deadbolt

Problem fixed by having my wife look it up on the Schlage website. The deadbolt has a flash memory so your combinations and codes will not be lost when the batteries are changed.

Electronic bathroom scale lithium battery spent

I had a problem changing the battery too. I just couldn't get it out and was afraid of prying too hard because I might break it. So I called customer service to ask them (a bit extreme) but they basically just told me to take a small screwdriver (I used a hair pin) and pop it out. I tried again by pushing down on the opposite side instead of lifting and it popped right out. The battery is just a small electronic one like in a car's keyless entry controller.

Power supply Problem

99.9% of all keyless locks do have a key tumbler, so in the event of a loss of battery power, you can still open and lock the lockset with a standard key. Most all key-less locks will indicate that the battery is getting low and needs to be changed, if you don't change the batery is time, the only way to open/close the lock defaults back to the actual key.

There is usually an access panel on the inside side of the lock that is opened by either sliding up or down on the panel, or removing the screw holding the cover in place or prying off the cover plate so you can get to the battery.

Remember the reason for having installed a "key-less" lock is to allow authorized access (family, friends, employees, etc.) to something without having to have duplicate keys that can be lost or stolen and to prevent having to re-key locks everytime something changes.
