Does water in door dispenser taste bad? If not, Try arm and hammer fridge deoderizer. It will help to absorb fridge odors which may be clinging to water molecules in ice maker tray. Ice maker tray is open to freezer area.Water is very medium to infiltrate with odors. Try this first
the defroster isn't close enough to the drain to be effective. remove the back wall of the inside of the freezer, remove the excess ice. clear out the ice from the drain using hot water and a turkey baster. there is a kit from whirlpool that uses a piece of metal and a screw around the defrost rod, but I found out that a piece of 14 gauge solid core wire with the insulation stripped off works great too. stick the stripped wire into the drain, 2 to 3 inches, and wrap the rest around the defrost rod.
Listened to other posts and figured drain plug was clogged. It was with ice. Removed bottom pan and back panel of freezer, removed ice on bottom, put hot water in drain to thaw ice until it flowed into pan underneath fridge. Thanks for the ideas.
Remove the back panel from the freezer to verify no ice behind the freezer panel. Look inside the air vent on the freezer panel for ice buildup. Make sure the freezer control is set to minimum not coldest freezer.. Make sure the freezer fan motor is working.
It may be just the water control valve on back of refrigerator. Put tap water in ice maker and lower lever for on. After ice is made, does it drop to tray? At this time when empty is the time the control valve is asked for water. The problem could be in valve on back or the inside ice maker itself. If you can try a few test with me I will help you locate the problem. Let me know what you find as I go through this with you. Sea Breeze http://servicepartstec.blogspot.com/
Get yourself a thermeter and see what the tempeature is in the freezer. It should be "0" degrees or colder. If it is hanging around 30 degrees +/- you may have a compressor or control problem. You may have a drain tube clogged that takes the water out of the freezer. I am not familar with your model but many freezers are similar.
too much ice bulid up will stop enough cold air being blown into the fridge.Try turning it off letting all ice melt then turn it back on again and set thermostat at a lower temp. There may be ice you can't see.
