SOURCE: DVD tray in SD-V296 will not open

Hi!

Thank you. Yes, we did solve the problem; in fact, it was the way we had solved it one other time, even though I had believed it a fluke then:
we simply disconnected the unit for a couple of hours, plugged it back in and, just as last time, the tray opened easily.

Sincerely,

Dean Hunt

Cant open dvd drawer

Sometimes DVD player drawers get stuck closed because the disc inside isn't seated properly. At other times the player may have another problem. The first step in discovering if it is the disc or another issue is to remove the disc. Most DVD players have a secret eject button. It allows you to open the drawer when a disc gets stuck and cannot be ejected normally.
For this you'll need a standard size paperclip.

  1. Unfold the paperclip and make it as straight as possible.
  2. Look closely at your DVD player . Push the tip the paper clip into the small hole on the tray cover on the front of the Toshiba. The hole is on the right side of the cover.
  3. Press inward gently with the paperclip until you feel a slight resistance, then continue pushing to engage the internal eject button. The tray should pop open partway.
  4. Gently pull the drawer until it's fully retracted. Be careful not to pull too far.
  5. Remove your disc from the drive.
  6. Before you reinsert another disc, use the remote and/or buttons on the player to close the door, and reopen it. You can also press carefully with your fingers. If you cannot open/close the drawer normally at this point, do not put in a new disc until you have repaired the problem.

Cannot get cd out. I think the dvd player is broken for good and the cd is stuck in the player. the only button that works is the on and off button.

Look for a small hole... if there is one, use a paperclip to press in the hole. It should help eject the CD. If that won't work and you are trashing the DVD player, you can always force the drawer open to get your CD out. Just pull on it or pry it open. You'll most likely break the track... so be prepared to trash it! OR you could take the screws out and take the unit apart... then you can get the CD out that way.

SD-V391 DVD drawer won't open

I just had the same issue with this old, hardly used the SD-V391 DVD/CD drawer not opening. Took off the cover (5 screws, 3 back, one on each side), plugged in, heard the DVD motor whirling but no activity. Manually opened the mech tray by the white slide release (right side, under the mech), and saw the motor gear was not on the motor post. Found the gear, replaced it on the motor post, and works. Hope this helps folks, saved 20-30 bucks for a player at a thrifty, time to do this fixya was about 10 mins.

Two DVD's stuck in Toshiba Regza with built-in DVD player

If you can find a piece of stiff wire, put a small 90 degree bend onto one end and try to hook the edge or middle of the DVD drawer and pull out the drawer. It will resist a bit but should come out.

2 dvd's are stuck in dvd player

This may need a trip to the shop.

I would try to bring the device to a worktable and using gentle probes, ease the door open when activated.

I assume that there is a noise when you activate the door open feature.
