SOURCE: 26" TV is inop

repost
Gateway was sued Class action over LCD's and Plasmas they sold over a 2 year period. They resell 3rd party TV's that were very faulty, an immature design.

Here's what I learned about mine, which makes it limp through as a Computer monitor (both DVI and VCA) and halfway functional TV.
You have to connect a DVI source, on the Main Menu for the DVI input there is an option called "Factory Mode". scroll down to it with the CH buttons and select it with the vol button. The scroll to "initialize eprom", select and confirm it. After the "Waitting" words disappear, make sure you have a TV source connected, Then turn the TV off and on, using the hard switch in the back. The TV input should be defaulted to channel 10 or 11 now But you select a TV channel that has no TV signal on it (like channel 1 for example) , the whole TV input side will refuse to let you select it again, and you'll have a blank screen and have to start over.

That takes care of the blank screen thing Now the other problem is parental control is defaulting to "ON" or something, and you can't program channels. With the TV input Main Menu engaged, select "Setup Menu." If you have this problem, then you'll only see 2 options, all the TV input and channel programming options will be missing. You have to select Parental Control, and when it prompts you for a password hit the volume > button 4 times (or just wait for a minute.) This should bring back your TV System and auto prgram/manual search options.

Unfortunately, my TV doesn;t remember these setting very well if I select cable, it does better if I select "AIr". But at least it funtions - kind of. If you switch to your computer input, you probably will have to switch the monitor off and on from the back panel again. Mine always starts up with the menu onscreen. All this might bve less trouble if you have a the remote, I don;t know where mine went after the last move.

Good luck, and hope this helps.

SOURCE: no power - have checked fuses, power leads and master switch

Well yes, there a problem in the power supply modual.
It does sound like a failing power supply , becuse of the
fact you don't get charge up spark from the plug , wich is normal
affter it's been off /unpluged for 20 min or so .

check the resistance of the plug coming from the set with a volt meter if you have 10 meg ohms or higher,
it's an open circuit and more than likely a 1.50 fuse in the power
supply. If the fuse blows instantly then it's a shorted output transistor or rectifier diode in the switching power supply.

Be a shame to pay 300.00 plus for a stupid fuse.

hope that helps a little . if you have any questions just comment
an i'll respond
.

Television

Try unplugging it from the outlet for a 5 minutes, and try again. If that doesn't work - try plugging in a lamp to the outlet to make sure it works. You can also try connecting the TV to a different outlet (check fuses or circuit breakers). If you use a remote - change the batteries - or try using the power switch on the TV itself.

If it doesnt work - provide the brand and model of your TV.

Cannot locate internal fuse in my Toshiba 32DV504B

Contact any service technician. The fuse can be located at its main power supply regulator board itself. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.

Hi,Iwas watching TV and the screen went black. No lights on,I unplugged and plugged again but anything happened. My TV is a Toshiba Regza model 42RV530U. Can you help me? Thanks

If there was a popping noise of any kind when the tv screen went black there's a high possibility that one of the fuses in the tv popped and there is no power to the tv. It could also just be the outlet itself and try plugging the tv to different working outlets.

Will not switch on. The light does not come on when plugged in at the mains

check the power supply, most have a little light on. might sound daft but if its a uk plug or has a fuse fitted in the plug that may have gone. try a different power supply, maybe take to a computer store and just ask them if they will try it on one of their power supply's as a test, of it works you can get multi fit power supplies quite cheap from well known auction sites. if it turns out it is not the power supply, it could be a fault on your main board, a fault with the power in socket (i have a toshiba and the pin inside the socket always breaks off, ive changed it several times) or more commonly to the older generation laptops, it ould be the battery. sometimes the battery completes the charging circuit, again knock off batteries maybe found cheap from well known auction sites, and alothough not always of great standards, they are better than paying toshiba for one and finding its a board problem.

I have an LCD T.V and one day it just turned itself off and now it won't power up, When i change the fuse it powers up for a split second and then go's off again.... Is this a general problem that can be...

Check the fuse again. It is possible that something in the TV has shorted and is causing the fuse to keep blowing. If the new fuse is not blown try unplugging the TV and letting it sit for a while, overnight if possible and then plugging it back in. If it still does not work consider trying a repair shop , or if it is still under warrenty call the manufacture and see if they can repair/replace it.

Toshiba TV/DVD Combo Model MD14H63

I have the same problem with this model as Guest, who posted on 01/03/2008: power on, red light, immediate shut-off. The sticker on the television says it was manufactured in April 2007. I think there should be a warranty on it; I suppose I'll be calling Toshiba soon if it doesn't start working. Maybe important to note for any potential buyers, as well.
