Bought on eBay, very good condition. No instruction manual. Assembled, train is not getting power, controller lights green and alternates light red so I think the signal is trying to get out. Transformer doesn't even get warm so would that be the source of this problem? New Bright hasn't responded, I read that their customer service is not so good. Don't want to just throw parts at this. Any help out there? Thanks!
My 1996, #380 New Bright Holiday Express stopped working. When l pushed the on/off button on the control panel, the light was green but it won't light up, make sound or run. Bought another control panel but still doesn't run. All connections are plugged in properly, engine and cars are properly on the track, checked the brushes-great... please help! Thank you!

Yes they do. I have the #380-2 Water Tank car (and the other 4 that are available) They run and operate just as the other cars do.

Make sure you the wheels on the cars are actually rolling and not sliding (being drug down the track) Most of the animation is down mechanically as the set moves.

Make sure your track is clean. take a green scrub pad and rub the track to clean off any tarnish
SOURCE: No power to track and/or train. Power to Holiday Express Train
Power enters through the tender. You must have the tender and the engine both on tracks and linked with electric cable.

My son just got this train and we are having the same problem. Taking the last car off solved the problem for us. I think it has something to do with accessories and the transformer voltage output (See page 14 and 15 of the instructions).
I have still not determined why it won't run with the final car but am assuming it has something to do with the lights on the cars pulling too many amps and not enough left to run the train. I will let you know if I find a solution. If anyone else knows how to solve the issue, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
