Hi Anonymous, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? what is the model number of the unit or the part number of the bridge they are all different because of the wattage and voltage and amperage, they also have different wiring codes.

all diode are not the same . they all have a different value, so it all depends on the kva input /output it determine the values to be used .
you do not need to use the original as long they are of good manufacturer

If the doides have a number on them, goto and cross reference them to a good number. Then you can find a dealer on the web site also.

SOURCE: Same Problem, diodes fell out of bridge rectifier assembly

pulling to many amps, diodes could not handle amps so they failed.unit should have kicked its breaker before the diodes burned out.most units have their own breaker to protect the system.I would replace the control board first see how unit reacts, probly fine,if not the you go to next step.

A good high voltage diode will read open in both directions on a standard meter. See:

If the diode is NOT shorted or burned looking, it's probably fine.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.

It has a wiring diagram and a schematic which shows you how the components are connected.

On one terminal of the high capacitor, there is only one connection - to the high voltage output of the high voltage transformer.

The other terminal of the capacitor will be connected to the high voltage diode and the magnetron, as well as one of the heater (cathode) windings of the high voltage transformer.

Here is info on testing the mag:
(continuity can be good even though mag is bad!)

Sometimes it is the head gasket, check, it can be, incorrect fuel mixture, far too lean, exhaust should be a light grey color. Check enough oil in sump. ensure free flow of air all around machine.

I have a 2000 watt sears generator that uses brushes and a bridge rectifier. what size rectifier is this. the one that is in it is a four diode system. can it be replaced with the square solid state ones...

Yes diodes come in all sizes. Look on your good diode an you will find a number such as 4001 or something like it. That number tells you the amperage rating for the diode you need. I dont know the wattage but 4001 is not the one you will need but they are found online at parts stores, ebay, even try your local electrical store. I have got the correct larger ones from an alternator repair shop.

Onan generator

test the generator diodes with an ohm meter you should see almost no resistance in one direction on a diode and a high resistance when you reverse the meter probes.if you do the diode is good if the diode reads the same in both directions it is either shorted or open. (diodes are like one-way streets for electricity)

Model pm0525312.18 serial 914080230 engine runs good but the voltage drops of from about 125volts to 90 volts when you put on about 1500 watts. does this model have a voltage regulator? what is a bridge...

According to the parts pdf, there is no voltage regulator. Voltage is adjusted by the rpm of the engine. If your have a meter that reads hertz (Hz), you can set the engine rpm by adjusting hertz to 60 cycles (Hz). At 60 cycles the engine is running at about 3600 rpm. Most engines develop their max horsepower at this rpm. If you are loosing power/voltage and the engine speed is not dropping below 3600, than most likely could be problem with capacitor, brushes or diode (bridge diode). The diode converts ac voltage from stator to direct current to power the magnet (rotor). Check for brush wear and test capacitor for value printed on part. It should test with 5% of stated value. Diode can also be easily tested with meter. Good holidays

Bosch 18v driver/drill charger won't charge

1. Check your charger's wire. Most of the wire s are always damage in the root of plug & to the opposite side.
2.Check the fuse.
3.Check the Rectifier Diodes. How many Diodes do your charger has?most of the chargers are only one, sometimes 4(a bridge type,& somtimes only one but 4 legs( it is also called a bridge type)
to test a 2 legs diode is just simply get a multi tester and adjust or set it in X1.,then look for the white band(mark) of diode,if you can see that mark, remember that it is the positive side.what will you do is put the red pin of the tester to the positve side of the diode,& the black pin of the tester to the negative side of the diode. If if the neddle of the diode will move, then you must reverse the pin of the tester, the red pin now will be put in the negative side of the diode and the black pin of the tester now will be put on the positive side( to the side with white mark or band).
now,if the neddle of the tester WILL MOVE after doing this reverse test: im sure that your diode is dead and needs to be replaced

Note:even most of the time you can do testing diodes attached on the board..,it is strongly recomended to detach one leg of the diode to the PCB or circuit befor doing the test.

Engine system service required

You need to attach an automotive scanner to the car to decode what service is needed. You can of course do this at the dealer for big bucks, but a local parts store such as Pep Boys or Advance Auto will often do it for free.
