SOURCE: decoder keep scanning

well, firstly. u have a sat finder!! great!! now lets see if i can teach u how to use it, when you hook it up there will always be some sort of signal, (other electronic waves in the air) the best way to check is to put ur hand in front of the LNB (the square box in front of the dish) if he signal goes down, the signal was fine to begin with, if it goes up, the dish is out, if nothing happens... dead LNB, which in my experiance, the most likely cause, dont for get to reset your decoder once you have solved the problem.. good luck

SOURCE: Changed from single to twin LNB, no signal

HELLO

Here is a suggestion! Try SKEWING the LNB around a few degrees. Looking at the front of the dish, turn your LNB to the LEFT slightly (that is anti-clockwise).

Sometimes it's the little things that matter most where installation is concerned. It is also possible that due to the weight of the new LNB, the alignment may be out.

SOURCE: I have bought the old decoder and need to set up the satellite dish. I had signal for approx one minute, then lost it. What is the angles in azimuth and height to set up the dish?

The angle and azimuth depend on the position of the satellite. Contact any technician. Gopakumar Gopalan Google
It is not easy to predict the exact angle and azimuth. You should have a signal meter to proceed.

Dish connection is not working

Check:
coax connection is tight at LNB and decoder,
coax cable is not damaged,
decoder is working,
account is valid & up to date,
dish is aligned correctly.

Otherwise get somebody with a SATFINDER or similar signal strength meter to confirm there is a signal.

Watch your SKY channels on a second TV with Magic Eye and remote

If you have Sky Multi-room this will feed a separate SKY signal from your LNB on your dish to a second SKY box if you have the basic this will not cost you anything you still need a card inserted in the front to make this work. I think it costs £5 extra for more channels.

So if you have SKY + you will have 3 coaxial cables coming out of your LNB. ( 2 for the SKY + and 1 for the Multiroom )

To ger the signal for free the easy way is to connect a coaxial cable from the RF2 output on the back of the SKY ot SKY+ box into another TV and use a SKY Magic Eye these cost about £5 and have a range of about 20 meters. You can use a coaxial splitter to feed two TV but you will loose more signal the more you connect.

You will need to turn this function on using the hidden menu to allow you to use the Sky Remote control then LED on the unit will show you that there is a signal.

Press <SERVICES> <4> <0> <1> <SELECT> and goto the RF2 output to turn the signal on you might find that this signal is already turned ON for you.

Note: If you are using a multiplex faceplate unit this signal will not work as it relies on continuity of the coaxial cable with a 12V DC signal being sent out of the back of the SKY Box.

For all setups changing you Box model or adding an extra box SKY must to this for you by having your phone line connected so they can reprogram your Smart Card.

Hello, I have a sky dish and decoder, but before the decoder I have put a splitter and carried a seperate coax straight to another Freeview tv hoping to get a signal... But it hasnt. Is it possible to...

David.
Are you using the same output from the LNB on your sky dish?
ie one cable??.
If you are it will not work you need to use a seperate output,
if you cant do this, you will need to change the LNB to a multi output one.
By the way there is 30 volts present all the time from your receiver to your LNB, that is even while switched off.

I need a converter that will allow me to hook up the rj12 cables to the coaxial connections on a 16 channel revo dvr

hi;
you wan to hook up coaxial to rj12 ,if you you do that the wire of rj12 has not to exceed 3 meters
cause camera signal (video) to become weak. Camera Video signal has to be fed only to coaxial cable, coaxial cable has an insulation to prevent interference.
so if you want to hook up be sure put a shielded wire.
thanks......hope this help.

What kind of optical or coaxial cable do i need to get exces to dts and dolby digital

To get DTS and Dolby Digital sound you will need one of a few types of digital cable to connect the digital output on a device to a digital decoder or receiver. One type of digital cable is the SPDIF Coaxial, which is a single cable that can transmit high quality digital audio. Another cable for digital sound is the Toslink Optical cable which uses plastic or glass fibres depending on the cost to transmit light which is then decoded into sound information. With optical cables the signal can break if the cables are bent too much. The other cable that can be used is the HDMI cable, this is used to stream HD video and HD sound formats such as DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD, these can of course stream the standard Dolby Digital and DTS signals, but for what it is worth I would recomend a SPDIF Coaxial cable. These can be found at hi-fi shops and places such as Maplins or Ebay. They are also cheaper than the other digital cables and more reliable than optical ones. Any type will do as long as you have a decoder or home receiver which can convert the digital information into sound. Infact you can use an RCA composite cable and connect that into the coaxial ports at either end. This will transmit the digital information, but not as good quality as a proper coaxial cable, but you still get the DTS and Dolby Digital formats with full surround sound. I hope that this helps.
