SOURCE: How do you reset the OKI c5800 drum?

You don't need to go through all that mess of replacing the fuse. The tone gets everywhere and getting the Drum unit back together with all the gears and shafts lining up is a real pain.
The Drum reset system is very simple. When the printer powers up and runs through its system check, one of the tests energizes the erase LED array built into the Drum unit. The reset fuse routes a small amount of low voltage current off this LED array. There is a contact on the end of the Drum unit that the printer senses. It there is voltage there (ie the fuse is good), the printer resets that Drums counter to 100%. If there is no voltage (ie the fuse is blown), the printer continues on its way.
All you have to do it act like fuse at the instant the printer sends power to the LED array.
There's no soldering, no screws to undo, and no toner all over the place.
The best thing is it takes about 3 minutes start to finish and cost $0.00!
Here's what you need:
• A simple volt/amp meter (an analog one works best, but digital is fine also) • Two pieces of thin wire about 300mm long. I used old telco wire. With insulation, its about 1mm wide. • A pair of scissors to strip the wire ends • X-acto or thin razor knife

1) Strip about 4-5mm off the one end of each wire and 25mm off the other end. Bend the 5mm end at a 90 degree angle right at the base of the stripped part. 2) Pull out the Drum unit (leave the toner cartridge attached to the Drum unit) 3) On the right end of the Drum unit (DU) there are three square brass contacts about 3mm wide. The right end is the end with the blue handle. Looking at the end of the DU, you are interested in the 1st and 2nd contacts from the left (they are the two closest to the screws on a c5800 cartridge) 4) Use the X-acto knife to lift the contact metal and slide the 90 bent end of the wire under the contact. Do this with the other wire on contact #2. 5) Put a little vertical tension on the wires and route them around the blue toner release handle. 6) Gently insert the DU/toner cartridge into the printer. Keep slight tension on the wires until the unit is seated. 7) Wrap the 25mm stripped end of the wires around the volt meter leads. Wrap one so it makes electrical contact, but you could pull it apart instantly at the right time. 8) Set your voltmeter to the lowest amp setting. I put mine on 200micro amps. Also make sure your voltmeter leads are in the correct holes of the voltmeter. You want the amperage or milliAmp holes not the voltage holes. Don't forget to turn the meter on. 9) Get prepared to pull one of the leads off of the one of the thin wires and turn on the printer. Don't be afraid to touch the metal of the wire; the voltage/amperage supplied to the LED array is very low and will not hurt you. A 9 volt flashlight battery is more dangerous. 10) About 10 seconds into the startup routine, you will see you voltmeter display a reading. Instantly pull the leads apart.
Congratulations, you are now officially a 1/16amp fuse.
Your printer will reset the Drum Unit counter and you have another 20K impressions (if the image quality is acceptable to you)
If you have any question, just respond to this post. I'll get the email and answer you.
Good Luck.
Paul

How do you rest an OKI c3530 image drum

Turn off the printer
Turn the printer on whilst holding down Menu button. (Display says user maintenance.)
Press the menu button three times. (The display will say drum counter reset.)
Press enter key. The system should go back on line, if not press on-line key.

You can just put a new fuse on the drum.
When you insert the drum the machine resets the counter and then blows the fuse. So if the unit is ok and you just wish to run it through another cycle just change the fuse.
This means you cannot just put a full unit in from another machine as it will not reset the counter until you put a new fuse in it as you found out.
This applies to drums transfer belt etc.
Note with regard to refilling the toner, some printers have 2 sections. 1 where you put the fresh toner and an after collection section in the same unit. You must empty the 2nd section if you refill it more than 2 or 3 times

I have a new OKI B410d printer which is givng error message "Install Toner 613 Toner Missing" yet toner cartride intalled adn plenty of toner in drum

It is more than likely that you have an incompatible toner fitted to the drum unit. Either a generic cartridge or b430 or b440 cartridge which is not compatible with b410's. Beyond that it may be a faulty drum unit. Hope this helps.

It usually resets automatically when you replace the drum/toner units. Are you trying to get it to reset before it's supposed to? I don't know of any way you can do that.
