The Dick Smith F4536 is the Binatone SPEAKEASY 7. Unfortunately Binatone seem to be offline. The nearest manual I can find is for the Speakeasy 5

The problem I had was that the phone was using pulse dialing, not DTMF. I found that holding down the Mute button (when not on a call) switched to Tone (DTMF) dialing
Do other phones that are plugged into the phone jack get a dial tone? If not then you need to call your phone service provider, if other phones work and just this one has the problem then the phone's base station is defective. In that case the phone is replaced as the cheapest fix
Check for dialing tone by pressing 'Talk On' phone button. If no tone, check cord at base station and the phone socket is correctly plugged in at both ends using the original cord supplied. If still no dial tone, check the phone at another phone connection to establish if either the phone or the line is faulty.
