SOURCE: Error message "cover door is open or printer cartridge is missing"

Try to find the latch in the cover that presses a switch to indicate it is closed it is usually a small stick projection at the sides of the cover. Replace the cartridge it should fit snuggly then try it again.

SOURCE: Error message: "Door Open"

HI there,
Follow the steps below:
Step one: Close the print cartridge access door
1.Verify that the print cartridge access door is completely closed. It may appear to be closed, but if it is not completely closed, the error message will display. Verify that there are no obstructions blocking the door.
2.If you are unsure how to close the print cartridge access door on your model, consult your User Guide for more information.
Figure 1: Examples of closing the print cartridge access door (your model may vary)
f3e57be.gif If you have attempted to completely close the access door and the error still appears, there may be a problem with the door sensor and the unit may require service.

Step two: Service your product
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Good Luck!!!

SOURCE: door open , close print cartridge access door

I have an HP Officejet 6210 All-in-One. When you open the print cartridge access door there is a black toggle switch that needs to be in the depressed position to let the unit know the door is closed. Something was missing from the topside of the "door" so the switch didn't close. I simply stuffed in some foam material to close this, and the unit operates normally. You will need to remove this when changing cartridges, then replace it again.0a64d2c.jpg

How to open my printer to put an ink cartridge in HP Office Jet 3830

First, make sure that the printer is plugged in and turned on. Close the output tray extender and rotate the output tray clockwise to stow it in the printer. Open the front door of the printer by tilting it down; the door is just below the LCD screen. Open the cartridge access door by tilting it down; this is behind the front door to the right of the LCD screen. Wait for the cartridge carrier to move into the replacement position.

For pictures of the front door and cartridge access door, see page 79 (page 85 of the PDF) of the manual. HP has the manual on the product support page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-series/7172321/manuals . The current link to the manual is http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04724956 . The doors are also shown in the Setup poster but it isn't as clear.

I hope this helps.
