How can I fix an hp officejet 3830 that is giving me a message that says the ink cartridge access door is open and is is not.

First, make sure that the printer is plugged in and turned on. Close the output tray extender and rotate the output tray clockwise to stow it in the printer. Open the front door of the printer by tilting it down; the door is just below the LCD screen. Open the cartridge access door by tilting it down; this is behind the front door to the right of the LCD screen. Wait for the cartridge carrier to move into the replacement position.
