HI there,
Follow the steps below:
Step one: Close the print cartridge access door
1.Verify that the print cartridge access door is completely closed. It may appear to be closed, but if it is not completely closed, the error message will display. Verify that there are no obstructions blocking the door.
2.If you are unsure how to close the print cartridge access door on your model, consult your User Guide for more information.
Figure 1: Examples of closing the print cartridge access door (your model may vary)
If you have attempted to completely close the access door and the error still appears, there may be a problem with the door sensor and the unit may require service.
Step two: Service your product
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
Good Luck!!!

SOURCE: door open , close print cartridge access door
I have an HP Officejet 6210 All-in-One. When you open the print cartridge access door there is a black toggle switch that needs to be in the depressed position to let the unit know the door is closed. Something was missing from the topside of the "door" so the switch didn't close. I simply stuffed in some foam material to close this, and the unit operates normally. You will need to remove this when changing cartridges, then replace it again.
