Try this;

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

http://rapidshare.com/files/67740173/e200fw01.00.12.exe____

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Best of Luck.

I had the same problem so on my birthday my cousin took me to get it fixed. we went to radio shack and they told us to call the san disk company. when we did they told us how to reformat it. it will erase ALL the data, but if you have tried everything else, you have no choice. first turn the power of. if you can't, hold the power button for 15-30 sec. then switch the lock (located on the top of the player) on. then press and hold the rec. button. then plug it into the compeuter and let go of the rec. button. the player should say "recovery mode" and a new file should pop up on the compeuter. click the file ONCE and scroll down to new. once you click "new" another file should pop up. name the file sansa fmt. yes it DOES matter what you name it. then you can unplug the player.
remember it will erase all the data exept the time and date.
hope it works.

Frozen while on the refresh database screen

Try holding the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This usally shuts the whole thing down.

It may refresh the database as normal next time.

Sansa MP3 player has frozen screen

With the Sandisk you can just open up the battery compartment and pop the battery out for a second, then if you put it back in and turn the mp3 player on, it should work just fine. This is easier to do with the older ones that take AAA's, but unfortunately with the e250 you need a little screwdriver to remove the battery. (But the other day I used the flat part of a piece of jewelry; you can use whatever you have :D )

Refresh database looping

This may not work for everyone - but try inserting a TransFlash (also called Micro SD)card in the microSD slot, and power on. It may then correctly refresh its database. It worked in my case, with firmware ver11.
