SOURCE: HDMI to DVI-D conversion problem. Not in compliance?

It souunds like te TV is having problems with the streaming data being applied Most plasmas with DVI connections were actually designed for PC type input signals  Unfortunately the TV's input may not be able to stand up to the stream of signal the DVD or cable box wants to display. You can try and lower the output of both devices to 720P Good luck to you

SOURCE: I have a 37" Insignia

Try plugging hdmi cable into hdmi 1 on your TV, then open the menu on TV and find the place it lets you to make selections on this, such as Satellite or hdmi 1. One of these selections have to work.
---------
does the hdmi port gets detected when you try in other hdmi ports.if not getting detected then it can also be fault in the hdmi ports.because as you said that hdmi port number 1 works.that means wires are proper.but other hdmi ports not working that means the ports are faulty if all the setting are proper in setup.
as the ports are soldered to the unit internally.if the soldering gets loose the connection will not get complete.so re-soldering is required to the loose ports.

if you are not familiar with doing this you can get it done by local repair technician familiar with this model .
-----------
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.

SOURCE: Philips 52'' LCD HDTV. Has PC Input Issue.

Hello Terry,

I have the exact same problem that you described. I have tried 3 different HDMI cables. I connected my laptop to another LCD TV and didn't have the issue with that TV. It seems to be something related to the Phillips TV but I am still figuring this out.

Have you solved the issue with the HDMI to HDMI cable from the PC to the TV? My TV is the exact same as yours.

How do I change the resolution on my Phillips 4k tv from 720 to a higher resolution tools

The TV will select the correct/appropriate resolution based on the source. To achieve the highest resolution you will have to connect a unit (video source) capable of providing 4K using HDMI 2.0 compliant cables. To achieve any HD resolution, the video source will have to be connected to a HDMI port. The ATSC terrestrial digital broadcast signal (over the air TV) is generally 720p, but many stations transmit in 1080i/1080p.

I can't get audio to work on my Samsung UN40HU6950F UHD TV HDMI 1 input using the Time Warner Cable Cisco 4742HDC cable box.

if all 4 inputs work with another input source(i.e. your Motorola box) it indicates the issue is with the TWC input source. Also check your HDMI cable to be sure it is in good condition & properly plugged in on both ends.

Hdmi cable cables

Have you looked at your tv for HDMI inputs? What do you want to connect to it? There are two kinds of Hi def cables, one has five rca cables ...3 for video and 2 for audio. The other is for a standard HDMI cable. Your tv should have one or both types of inputs. Converting to HDMI cables will not solve anything, because even some HDMI sources do not embed audio on the cable. Converters that do embed cost several hundreds of dollars, but you must have compliant TV's and devices you wish to connect to be sure they will work..

My ps3 is hooked up though HDMI to my emerson lc195emx. but the tv says its an unsupported format. why? is it because the tv only has 720p out put??

Try turning off the power to your console using the power switch in the back (first shut it down properly). Unplug the AV cables (if applicable) and the plug in the HDMI cable. Turn on the system and switch your input on your Television to HDMI. (Keep in mind that there may be a few inputs; HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.) The HDMI connection takes a few seconds so be patient. If that doesn't work, re post or ask to chat.

Denon AVR-488 , problems routing cable box through receiver to tv

If you don't have one, the manual is available online: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/AVR-488-OM-E_101.pdf

Suggestions:

1. Reset to default values. Per page 36 of manual: 1. Turn off Power. 2. Press Power while simultaneously pressing Speaker A and Speaker B. 3. Once the display starts flashing at intervals of about 1 second, release the two buttons.

2. Make sure you have AM or FM radio reception. This makes sure your speakers, amps, etc are connected and working correctly.

3. Connect DVD player to HDMI 1 in and TV to HDMI Monitor Out.
Play a known good DVD that works when you connected the DVD directly to the TV via HDMI.

Select the DVD/HDP input on the receiver and play the DVD. You should not have to perform any input assignments, etc. It should just work, as HDMI1 is the default system setting for DVD.

4. If possible, obtain a STB with HDMI out & repeat step 3 using the HDMI2 TV/CBL input. Keeping the signal path all digital (HDMI) will give you a better picture quality than forcing several analog to digital conversions (component video is analog).

4A. To use the component connection, first test by connecting the STB directly to the TV via component video/audio if possible. This tests that the component video output of the STB is working correctly.

Next, remove direct connection and connect via receiver. Connect STB to receiver as shown on page 13 in manual. Connect component video output from STB to component video input #2 (tv/cbl) on receiver. Connect the STB audio output to the corresponding tv/cbl audio inputs.

Make sure nothing is connected to the HDMI2 input or to any other TV/CBL inputs (composite video, s-video, digital coax audio).

Now select the TV/CBL input and turn on the STB. You should have both audio & video.

No picture on hdmi2

First of all connect the Direct TV box to HDMI 2 and see if it works there. If it does then the next step is to connect the DVD player to HDMI and see if it wors there. If not then connect the DVD player to the TV using the component inputs and if the DVD player works on those. If it does then maybe the HDMI interface in the DVD player no longer works as it needs to communicate with the TV.
