Question about Acer AL1711 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor goes black after a few seconds

I have an Acer AL1711 monitor, I'm pretty sure I have to replace a couple capacitors on the board, but I'm not sure which ones. Can anyone tell me where they are located?

Acer AL1711 17" LCD Monitor showing white screen

Hello,

A white screen indicates the power supply board is not putting out the correct voltages to properly power the monitor, just the back light. This type of issue is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors on the power board. You can rebuild your power supply board and bring the monitor back to life by just replacing the the bad capacitors. The problem is that model the Acer AL1711 could come with 1 of 4 different power supply boards install depending and the date manufacturer and supply on hand. If you want to repair the monitor if you could open the unit and get either the model number of the power supply board or send a picture of the board to me I will be glad to help you repair the unit and get it back up and running. You can contact me to send the information at [email protected]

Acer AL1711 monitor it almost too dark to read. have tried to adjust brightness etc. nothing seems to work. any help would be great. thanks

You probably have a back light problem. This is caused by a faulty inverter board or a faulty CCFL lamp.
LCD screens and Inverters are available from these WEB sites. www.lcdparts.net http://www.yallstore.com

My Acer AL1711 goes black but the light indicator on..i've read some of comment similiar to my problem and tried to repair it..but still..it didn't work..i even replaced the 1000uf capacitor..but...

When you repalce the caps, they should be repalced in a set since bad caps can look normal but can have high ESR.

And yes, you can have bad lamp assembly:

You need spare lamp the test the inverter board.

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

Acer al1711: two monitors with same problem

Hello,

The most likely cause is blown capacitors on the power supply/inverter board. Go to our web site at: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm we have pictures of what the capacitors look like when the blow out. We also have some dis-assembly guides that may help you. Just open the back of he monitor and look at the board, replace all the blown capacitors that look like the ones in the pictures and you should be back going. The values hat you will need are going to be marked on the sides of the bad caps. Be sure to use a low ESR and high temp replacement or you will have to do this again in a month or two. We carry the proper caps in stock if you want us to supply you with them. The caps at Radio Shack will not do. When you replace the bad ones be sure to install the new ones with the polarity stripe on the side going the same direction as the old ones come out. If you have any additional questions just let me know.

I hope this helps, if you please rate our solution.

Monitor goes black after a few seconds

I have the same problem on my Acer AL1711. The monitor was out of warranty so I opened it up and found one of the 1000 mf capacitor almost ready to pop. A 50 cents replacement from allelectronics.com fixed the problem.

Not recommended for anyone without experience soldering electronic components to PCB's.

We have repaired a couple of these. R1 on board normally burnt also C6 and C22 bad on inverter board. Replace these and it will probably work. R1 is 10 ohm. Capacitors are 220uf 25v.

Hi.  I have no experience with an AL1711 but this sounds very much like the power supply problem that affects the AL1715.

If you understand electronics then you need to check the power supply for faulty components (there were two faulty capacitors in my AL1715).  Replacements should cost about 10p each and however much time it takes.

Unfortunately if you're not into electronics then there's really not much you can do.

If you do take the back off then please post whether you can see any faulty components.

Zeb.

R1 will be blown, replace it with a 10 ohm resistor. Also replace C6 and C22 with 220uf 25v Capacitors.

What is wrong with my AL1711

This is possibly an inverter. When the monitor goes out, examine the LCD to see if you can see a faint image of the video being displayed. IF so, replace inverter. If not, possibly a bad LCD or video circuitry.
