Charging battery i have a new m853 and i dont know how to tell if my battery is charging or not. i have everything pluged in and there is a green light flashing and im not sure if that means its charging or its not. i got a new kodak easyshare MD853 camera. i tried to plug in my pc coz its totally drain but theres nothing happen i mean theres no light to know that its charging. what will i do??? and my problem theres no free charger.

IT SEEMS THAT VISTA HAS A POWER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON USB PORTS THAT TURNS OFF THE POWER ON UN-USED USB PORTS AND THAT IS WHY THEY ARE NOT CHARGING. YOU NEED TO GO INTO THE USB PORT SETTINGS AND RIGHT CLICK THEM AND DISABLE THE SETTING THAT ALLOWS THEM TO SHUT DOWN POWER TO THE USB PORTS. IT ALSO SEEMS THAT THERE IS A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH THE MAIN BATTERIES IN THE M853 FROM THE VERY FIRST TIME YOU TRY TO CHARGE THEM. THEY SEEM TO NOT WANT TO TAKE A CHARGE. get a new camera

Use the USB cable and connect that to the PC and try to turn on the Camera now.. Does the green amber light flash? If it didn't you have a problem with the Camera.

is the light that's coming on green or red?
if it's red, there's a charging error - contact kodak, they may provide a 5v ac adapter to resolve your charging issue

if it's green, was it blinking or solid? is the battery drained?
if the battery still has a little charge on it, please connect it to the computer then turn it on, check if there's power light
check if the screen is black - that means it's making a connection and the charging is the only issue - computer not detecting it, maybe resolved by kodak's software support

if the camera screen is active - that means there's definitely something wrong with the camera

arrange repairs with kodak, include the battery and usb cable

Take it back to the store get your money back and then go out and get a real camera. The m853 is a piece of junk. I had the same / similar problems and Kodak is clueless about the problem.
